If people don’t like it - well, that’s on them.

Agreed. There are times where I just want a solid game of pinball without having to track a ruleset 50 levels deep. Jokerz! scratches that itch perfectly.

Scored this on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. Started a thread but still none the wiser on how many games came out with these as promotional extras. Hopefully someone here will have the answers.

Haven't played much pinball since my twin brother passed away from cancer in November 2018.
Last night Dr Pinball prescribed a good dose of F14 Tomcat and Pool Sharks. Did the trick well, forgot how much fun Pool Sharks is!

Does anyone has a source on a Gameshow “car” drop target sticker?

I need a new one.

#3014 4 years ago

Posted this over in the playfield thread.

Hey All,
Game Show playfield I pulled out of my machine. This one actually is in pretty good shape. If yours is blown out you could easily drop this one in and be in good shape. Mylar, bubbling and some ball trails but overall decent.
Or hang it on the wall.

I'm thinking $250 + shipping since this really could go back into a machine.

I am trying to source some Williams system 11 plastics for a project, preferably ones that easily identify what game(s) they belong to.

If anyone has some, please PM me.

Hi there,

Sometimes having random hick ups on the music with my SOF (not starting when it should mainly).
I am pretty sure I read somewhere it was a common issue with sys11s and there was a fix but can't find the topic
Any link?

#3022 4 years ago

The lamp matrix went out on my Earthshaker. I don’t think I did anything to cause it. The last thing I did before I noticed it was out was to work on a rollover switch with the machine off.

So far I’ve verified all fuses are good. I ran the test suggested on Pinwiki-unplugged the 1J6 and 1J7, put diagnostics in all lamp mode and jumpered pins to a bulb. Nothing lights.

Other than lights being our machine plays normally. GI works and all other features are fine.

Any ideas on what to check next?

18 volt bridge rectifier.

#3024 4 years ago

Thanks Grumpy. Bear with me. I’m a rookie on SS. Which board am I checking? I do know what a bridge rectifier looks like so that’s a start.

#3025 4 years ago

It's mounted in the lower right corner of the back box. There also is a fuse for it right next to it.

#3026 4 years ago

Thanks! Now I know where to look and will check it out tomorrow. If I read correctly I need to do diode tests across each pair of leads. Is that right?

#3027 4 years ago

Start with checking for DC voltage on the violet and the black wires on the bridge rectifier. No voltage then check for AC voltage on the blue/white wires. No AC voltage then check the fuse.

#3028 4 years ago

Hi Grumpy, any idea on my above post?

I'm not sure what you mean, (not starting when it should mainly) can you be more specific about the problem.

Grumpy, I ran through the tests. 0.13VDC and zero VDC. I rechecked the fuse (which I am sure tested okay a couple of days ago) and it was bad. Replaced it—problem solved.

Thanks for all your help. I learned a lot in going through the process which will come in handy when (not if) some other issue comes up.

Sure
For example when starting a game, the main tune does not start for a few secs, then resets when I trigger a sound fx, and really starts normally after a minute or 2

This is one of those cases that if you didn't remove the fuse first it would read good.

Do you mean turning on the power or do you mean starting a game of a fully warmed up machine?

I have to ask, did you check the voltages going to the sound board? You could use your Mousing Around sound board in your SOF to make sure it"s not CPU or game related. Just swap the sound Roms over.

Nope, did not.
Good idea, will try that!

I've been slowly restoring a JOKERZ! for the past year and am trying to track down scans of the insert decals... Anyone have them by chance? Trying to avoid having to pay $50 for pre-printed ones of unknown quality from ebay.

The ones from classicarcade are usually fines.

Either one of your tilt/slam switch contacts are too close, or its a switch matrix issue.

I’m replacing a diode on a microswitch. Currently it has a 1n4001. Is there any benefit to using a 1n4004 or 1n4007 or should I stay with the original?

#3050 4 years ago

I have read a few times that using 1n4007 diodes are the way to go. The cost difference these days in negligible and they work in the place of the 4001's and 4004's too. For this reason I bought a slug of them on e-bay and they are doing the job well for me.
Here is a quote from GRUMPY from a different thread. "Since you have 3 system 11 games you need to keep some diodes on hand, if you buy 1n4007 diodes you can use them on coils, switches, lamps and circuit boards."
