Pulled a system 11 board from a taxi . Noticed this area where the resistors are installed.. board works fine but wondering if this is typical on these ?

Unfortunately that's pretty common on Williams boards. I usually replace those resistors and mount them off the board about 1/4 inch for better cooling.

Cool thanks figured it might be . I am going to be restoring this taxi my first stab at such a thing. Plays perfect now had to replace the battery holder , but maybe when it’s torn down it’s time to clean it up a bit .

I would modify it to use Mosfet's if you are staying with incandescent bulbs... instructions on the Pinwiki site:

    http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_System_9_-_11#MOSFETs_Installed_in_a_System_9_MPU_Board

But, If it works and you are going to 100% LEDs, there is really no need to do this.

Cool thanks , it has been converted to LED but I may swap it back . However this could be one good reason to stick with LED.
