Kind of scratching my head here. I have a GTB Hot Shots here that I am working on that continually corrupts the high scores (and audits for that matter). The game is 100% functional other than that. The 5101 has been replaced with a known good one and the problem exhibits itself regardless of having backup batteries in place or not. The resistor at TC1 to help with memory issues is present and accounted for. Going in to the audits, I cannot use any of the switches to clear the high scores.

Any suggestions as to where I should look next?

Is it just high scores ?? As I think I have seen this on my machine as well. But the super bogus first high score that my kid put in with his fingers never blanked but the others did. I remember testing batteries and then changing anyhow but it still happened every now and then.
Or are you losing other adults as well like games played and such.

Check for the battery voltage at Pin 22 of the ram.

If that is good, logic probe the CE1, CE2, RW, OE pins of the ram. All should be pulsing. See if one of the gates controlling them has failed.

Could be a bad data/address line to the memory (e.g. solder joint or battery corrosion on a traces).
Do you have any examples of what should be shown for high score versus what is shown?
