I watched this you tube video of Todd talking about Swords of Fury. I have never seen or played this game before but I would love to at some point in my life. In the video he talks about how they cleaned up this game and was showing off the wonderful music this game has. Wow Brian Schmidt did a wonderful job. He should be given award for this. I was looking at the comments on this video and the master him, Brian Schmidt chimed in. That's pretty cool.
So I wonder what this man has been up to lately.

On the top three of my wish list. Wait will be over soon, as I got a line on one. Can't wait to join the club.

It was my number one wanted pin since I first came across a video for it, so I searched one out and ended up importing it. The music is amazing, the gameplay is fun (though I can imagine I will eventually get bored with it) and the artwork and pf design is quite nice. There are not many good, original, fantasy themed games that hit the mark in so many places. I once read that a lot of these went overseas to Europe, but I am not sure how much truth there is to that.

LIONMAN!

Fun game, I owned it for quite awhile. Music was awesome, I did however find the game kinda easy. I had MEGA long ball times after owning it for awhile...still cool game...

My second pin ever, and it is a cool one! I put a full Cointaker LED kit in it and the pin looks awesome. Very cool to play in the dark and just lose yourself in the game.

Its the only pin on my wishlist.

LIONMAN! GETS THE BALROG! Or something like that! Lol

SOF is an awesome System 11 game. One of my favorites.

We used it in a big Comp we had at my place on Saturday. It was a big hit.

HERE COME DA GUARDS!

Like all the System 11 games, no ball saver on the Multiball, so it can be challenging to get the jackpot.

Funny story: we were playing WOZ at a guys place recently, and a guy was dissing WOZ ... He said "look, they stole the Swords of Fury mini playfield and put doors on it! Swords of Fury did it better 25 years ago!" Lol

I'd love to have a nice example of SOF. It's the MM for the average budget.

Nah, that's Big Guns! MM for under $1000 ... With space aliens thrown in for free

SOF is the sub $1000 WOZ lol

Not quite what it says on the display.

Yeah, it says something like that?

At beginning of Multiball it seems to have a couple of options appearing on the displays ..

1/ freedom for the titans (or similar)

2/ here come da guards (or similar)

That's what mine does anyway ... Maybe theres different rom versions?

If I can summon up the energy I'll trundle out and confirm.

Yeah, it says something like that?

It's a tad more provocative (my guests have often commented, especially when it was one of my few pins).

Rotordave, you're the dude who inspired me to try to collect every system 11, my original pinside hero If I ever make it over to NZ, I want to meet you and see your collection...and hopefully you still have a worked FD; as cool as pins are, cars are still my first love!

#13 10 years ago

Right ... First game, first Multiball. The quote on the screen:

OUR SWORDS ARE THIRSTY. HERE CUM DA GUARDS.

Second Multiball. Same quotes.

Third Multiball:

FREEDOM FOR THE TITANS. HERE CUM DA GUARDS

Confirmed!!

Ahhhhhh I see where you were CUMMING from now

Hahaha

To satiate your car porn fix for the day, here's the current RD Lineup.

Now you've got the spelling right, that's one of the funniest parts of the game! (Unless Downunder maybe there is no difference between "come" and "cum," which would explain this exchange!) People always seem to notice the provocative spelling of "come" over here though, lol..

Ah well, any night that you get to play a game of SOF is a good night

SoF (also called "S-Words" by our league) is one of the nine (LION MAN!) pins I (LION MAN!) operate...and very different for a (LION MAN!) System 11.

And now that I see your car pic, my night is complete! I spent my day in a 460whp Forester (it'll be on YouTube shortly, hoping for a 10 sec pass if the stars align), since today's rain called for AWD, so none of the RWD family members could come out to play!

Awesome!

I had 90 odd people at my place on Saturday and they were loving the Sys11s.

In Auckland, everyone has an MM, TZ, Addams etc ... So it's cool to have something different for the punters to play on.

I just imported a Rollergames from New Jersey, that was one of the hits of the night. Nobody had ever seen one before!

DONT FLIP! FLIP!

I have one and it's simply an awesome game. Very original playfield and ruleset. But most of all, the music is excellent. In my humble opinion it's one of the best sounding machines ever made and in that aspect definately on par with Gottliebs of the same era (Genesis, TX-Sector, ...).

#21 10 years ago

The music is awesome on this game, but has anyone had any success adding an external sub to SoF? I tried adding a Polk to SoF and it was disappointingly worthless. So quiet I couldn't even notice it was connected. Actually, this is an issue I find to some degree on a bunch of W/B games too, but SoF had the least impact of any game I tried.

Has anyone added a sub to SoF with good effects? The music seems like it would be a great candidate for a sub, that just wasn't my experience.

Wait over - Swords of Fury joined the Line-up today along with a clearcoated Whirlwind. Knock two off my wish list!

Played one at Midwest Gaming Classic 3 years ago and loved it! I thought it would be my first pin. Still on my wishlist though!

That's when you add lightning flippers and remove a couple posts. You gave up too easy!

This is true, I actually sold it to a good friend of mine, so I still got to play it for years afterward

#26 10 years ago

I love the game, It's been on my "must own" list for a while.

#27 10 years ago

First game I ever bought. Went up to a collector's house in NY to check out a Pinbot he posted on Mr Pinball, he had a SoF too, I left with the SoF and its never left since.

#28 10 years ago

I decided it was time to spend a bit more money on my SOF, so today I ordered some mirror blades and cointaker premium LED's, and I also got notice today that my replacement backglass restoration has shipped (from bgresto.com) after a couple months of waiting. It's gonna be pretty damned sweet looking once it's all pieced together!
