I'm working on a Stern Magic. I have several switches not registering - left slingshot, Stand up target "C", and drop target 1. At first I thought the problem might be in the switch matrix. But drop target 1 is not in that row - Drop target 2 is in that row and it works fine. (Drop target 1 does not register)

Then I checked continuity and found the white/brown wire is connected to DT 1 (not DT 2 as shown on the schematic). So the problem probably is in the switch matrix.

I could switch the wires from DT 1 to DT 2 to match the schematic but DT 2 only has one switch and DT 1 and DT 3 each have 2 switches.

What would you do?

I fixed the matrix problem - bad connector on J2-13. Now they all work but the question is what to do about the drop target 1 and drop target 2 being reversed?

And why does DT1 and DT3 have two switches each and DT2 only has one switch? DT1 and DT3 have switches on the bottom and on the back. DT2 only has a switch on the back.

Thanks

Bob

Thanks Quench, that explains a lot. That's all good information to know.

Unfortunately that means I need to clean and adjust 5 switches for a 3 bank target. And I hate adjusting switches on drop targets.

As far as DT 1 and DT 2 being reversed from the schematic, I think I'll leave it as it is. I don't think it makes any difference now that I know what the extra switches are for.

Thanks for the info.
