Having problems with my funhouse switch matrix. A complete row #5 only comes up as dummy jaw opto no mater what switch is hit in that row (right ball-shooter, right trough, etc etc). I have replaced the MPU due to battery leaking with a rottendog MPU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Column 5, since dummy jaw isn't in row five?
Have you disconnected the playfield and tested the board with jumpers? That will tell you if you have a board problem or a playfield problem.

I'm sorry I meant column 5. No I haven't tried jumping it out. Not really sure how to do that and with having a brand new rottendog mpu I. Is there any really good links to show how that's done.
Thank you

Given your MPU is new it seems likely switch 41 is stuck. If you bypass switch 41 by disconnecting the green-black wire at the switch and clip the ends together do the rest of the switches register?

Does your opto switch test bad?

First off thank you for your help so far. I am having an issue with steps superdog switch 55. But switches 52,53,54,56,57&58. When I switch edges test they come up on the display as switch 51 dummy jaw opto. But when I do a single switch test they don't come up on the display at all. I tryed disconnecting opto ramp switch (A-13901). But with that pulled I loose the whole column.

I put the old mpu in to rule out the new one. It does the same thing. So that does lead me to believe the problem is on the play field.

What's the chance that the opto ramp switch could cause the problem I'm having?

Very good. I "THINK" if the first switch in the column is closed the mpu can't read anything else in the column at the same time.

Alright that's a place to start. I will start ordering the parts to rebuild the opto ramp switch assembly since no one seems to have it. Thank you will touch back once I have it in.

Just a heads up, I found the problem. This whole nightmare was just a bad IDC. Switch 51 was the closest to the MPU, so my guess is that although the connection was week it worked. Switch 52,53,54,56,57&58 we're too far away.
Once again thank you for your help.
