I just got an original Medival madness. The test shows switch 24, 48 and 68 errors. What does that mean and how is it fixed? I’m pretty handy but I don’t know what that means. Any help would be appreciated!!!

look in your instruction book. Those will identify where the switches are. There are a few reasons they show up as errors - such as they have not been closed for X number of games or they are not making contact when the switch closes. Hopefully, just switches that have not been closed for awhile. Start a game and force those switches to close.
In the manual, use the coin door switches to enter diagnostics (pg 1-9) and the Switch Edges Test (pg 1-16). Actuate the identified switches manually, preferably with the ball itself. If they register, the error will be cleared. See 2-48, 49 for the switch list and map.
Great game!
Baby steps.
It is giving you an error because some of the playfield switches may or may not work. Sometime this is as simple as them not being used in a long time. To test this the easiest thing is to.
1. Remove the glass
2. Start a game
3. Manually depress those switches. As you likely have no idea which switches those are, look in the manual. Here is a link. https://www.ipdb.org/files/4032/Williams_1997_Medieval_Madness_English_Manual.pdf Check pages 2-48 and 2-49 of the attached manual to locate the switches.
4. If the switches register, the errors should go away. If they don't report back to us and we will help troubleshoot.
There are several things that could be happening here.
1. The switch has not been hit in 20 plus games (likely)
2. There is a piece of metal attached to each switch, sometimes these get bent in a way that the ball rolling over them doesn't register a hit. These can be bent back and we can walk you through that. The symptom for that is your finger tripping the switch but the ball rolling over it not registering it (likely)
3. The switch is physically broken under the playfield. This could be loose solder or just a worn out 28 year old component. (possible, can be fixed with basic skills and 20 minutes of youtube tutorials on basic soldering.
4. There is a problem on the CPU board in your machine. This can be fixed or replaced, but we want to eliminate the other issues first as this is more difficult to replace (unlikely).
Hope that helps. Check the manual, run the test, and get back to us.
