The long opto is not working where the shield is. I took apart the opto harness and the board, everything looks good, I cleaned every thing up, make sure everything was connect, and it still doesn't work. I couldn't find the test mode for just the large bar opto. I did run the test diagnostic, and nothing came up. Can I put a piece of white paper between the optos and see a little light beam on the paper? I don't know what to do next. Does anyone have any advice.

Well, I followed the above link. I took a pic of the sending side and I saw a purple light. Then I used a incandescent flashlight and shined it in the receiver opto, nothing happened. So i'm going to replaced both optos. I hope it works, is there anything else I can try.
