I seem to be in a self induced nonsense loop with my searches - so I'll accept the spears of "dude here's the answer that's been asked several hundred times" replies to ask :

Working on my Star Wars Ep 1 machine- fixed the driver board, got a nucore built and running, but want to keep the CRT installed for now. What I want to do is find a converter (or whatever I need) to allow the VGA signal to output to the monitor. When plugged in now, the display is garbled. (Searching I seem to have found various solutions that are close but not what I want to do).

I know ArcadeVGA is an option, but don't want to wait for shipping. I know an LCD is an option, but I want to get the machine running first.

Any input appreciated. I'd just order an ArcadeVGA card but unless someone knows of a source in the states (Southeast US preferred) I am hoping to find a cheap converter box off amazon, etc.

Hadn't thought about the software solution - thanks for the tip.

Ultimately I got tired of searching, grabbed an old Dell 19" monitor, then macguyver'd a quick solution to mount it.

This will suffice for now and allow me to order an ArcadeVGA to reinstall the CRT for a comparison.
