My friend has a Star Wars Premium that's giving the following error in its Service Menu Tech Alerts: "Check Node Board 9 – Overcurrent Protection." Is this something cruicial enough to warrant arranging a board replacement from the distributor/Stern? Or would a check+re-seating of the node's connectors be of any benefit here? Game works fine and plays fine otherwise. Thanks for any help.

I’ve never seen that message. I guess check+re-seating wouldn’t hurt. If that doesn’t work contact Chas or Pat at Stern.

This is a release note from 1.0 software:

" - Added tech alert for overcurrent coils and LEDs on node boards. New
diagnostic test to retest node board and report with coils/LEDs are drawing
too much current. Excessive current draw could be the result of a shorted
coil, an incorrect replacement LED/incandescent bulb, shorted light socket,
et cetera."

I would check everything connected to that node board. Did your friend change any light bulbs?

Not that I'm aware of.

I did some digging through the online manual, and if I'm understanding it correctly, the particular lamps going through that node 9 are at the right ramp+loop+mini standups and scoop – all feature lamp inserts and almost half are RGBs. Not likely any of that would get modded, and they all appear to light normally (i.e.: no excessive brightness or dimming).

BTW, the machine is running the 1.01 game code.
