After cleaning a Gottlieb score reel I snap it back quickly. When you try and check action of the reel and resistance against the switches don't coddle it.
If it doesn't settle into the right position;
Switches applying too much pressure to the slide mechanism
Reel shaft still gummed up
Reel not supported properly in the nylon guides in the head or improperly inserted
Wiring harness restricted in such a way that twists and restricts smooth action
Rivet board that allows communication from 10 to 100 to 1000 broken or missing wire
