I just picked up a batman forever. When starting a game I don't get the skills got selection first, I get an option for "sugar or spice", then the skills got select options. This occurs in tournament start and normal start modes. I can't find reference to this in the settings. Any ideas? Seems strange to have a jackpot gamble choice on startup

#366 7 years ago

I've done a factory reset and gone through all adjustments. No idea. It doesn't affect your starting score that I can see, or a bonus on completion. Perhaps it's a rom tournament setting or something? Running the 3.02 Rom chip

Quoted from Trekkie1978:

When mine starts, it defaults to Sugar or Spice. IMO, this might be a setting we see, because we have it on free play. Personally, I like the setting, whenever kids are over, they play the novice setting.
Paul, any update on reproduction ramps?

Sugar and spice isn't the novice/hard choice though that exists in the 4.0 ROM. Its a jackpot style choice.
Are you saying that choosing spice is hard and sugar is novice somehow?

Mine isn't a novice/standard option. Its a Take/Double option. Gameplay seems to be affected as though its novice/standard though, only really able to validate this with ball save times

That happens on game start. Its very strange.
Just double checked the ROM version. its running 4.0

I wish i had the proper difficulty choice. The jackpot number in the middle doesn't seem to relate to anything. its not the last games score. The choice isn't clear with this screen

I think i need to get another ROM set to check the Sugar Spice vs Novice/Regular. Im running the 4.0nv ROM and the 3.0 display. No-one else seems to have the choices I do.

Does anyone know what the nv stands for? its not listed as a rom version on ipdb

Quoted from dung:

You need to update to the 4.0 display. My guess is the memory locations on the display rom change between major revisions and yours is pulling the wrong graphic in this instance.

Didn't know that there was a 4.0 display ROM. Only thought it went to 3.0 for display. Thanks I will research more

I keep getting balls stuck under the right ramp when they go through the u turn ramp. I can’t seem to get it adjusted right. Any tips for alignment?

I noticed when doing this that I have what I think is an incorrect post mounting the lower end of the ramp. Playfield plastic is bent by it .

The threaded top part that extends past the plastic post is so long that it pushes the plastic above it at an angle.
The ramp alignment or incline is off somewhere as the ball sticks under he plastic rear part when returning from the u turn middle metal ramp

The alignment issue is at the other end though, and there’s only 1 screw up there that doesn’t allow for alignment change. Moving the lower end of the ramp horizontally won’t fix the problem and will cause ball drop alignment issues. Something somewhere has moved as this is a relatively recent (repeating) issue.

Likely placed there to stop balls popping out the ramp due to it not being levelled correctly. Definitely a hack
