The capacitors on the power supply are very important for the 5V supply.
Yes, replace them, certaintly when they are still original.

The big blue caps are for the controled lamps and the big display power supply.
Nothing to do with your coil problem.

Quoted from Inkochnito:

I'm not sure what is ment by 'B logic voltage'.
The caps are just for the 5V power supply.
A good decent 5V is crucial to these games.
Are you sure there is a working feedback diode on the U.R. flipper coil?
Replace it anyway, they are just a few cents.
What is the resistance value of the U.R. coil?
The manual says it should be a 22-900 (or 090-5020-30) coil, with a resistance value of around 4.4 ohm.

I have just checked the manual at IPB and the upper RT coil shows as a 090-5020-30 (23-900) which matches the one installed in my BF. Although there is one coil chart online that shows a resistance of 3.8 for this coil mine measures out at 4.0 ohms. I then checked through my stock and found a brand new stern labelled 090-5020-30 (23-900) which has 4.03ohms written on the label. This new coil also measures 4.0 so it looks like my installed one is good.

Regarding the Power Supply PCB is it only the 520-5047-03 board that we are looking at here? I should be replacing the majority of caps on this PCB?

The coil looks good indeed.
Value is within limits, so to speak.

All the Data East have the same call for C2, C3 and C7.
Those are the three most important caps.
There is also the buffer cap C4, which is 18.000uF/25V
On the 520-5047-03 it is split into four 4.700uF/25V caps (C11, C12, C13, C14).
Those four hardly go bad, but over time they may degrade.

Ok great! I will take your suggested ratings for all replacements and see if I can find them locally for a replacement this weekend. Update to follow. Thanks once again!
