Did the opto come out of the bracket somehow? You should be able to see in there to see the opto on either side. Transmitter and receiver.
FYI- infrared light from the opto is invisible to the naked eye, but can be seen if you look at the transmitter with a most phone cameras. Its a good way to sanity check. It will look pink/faint purple.

Hey man! I can see the issue. Right side opto looks like it came out of the bracket. You can see it in the reflection off the playfield clear coat in your bottom picture. You'll have to take the theater off, and that plastic, but then you should be able to get in there to solve the problem.
