I wish I had gotten that!
My Flash Gordon looked about as bad as that.
Have fun bringing it back to life.

We might need to create a Super Storm Sandy Rescue club thread
I'll just post random updates to this thread.
Quoted from Crispin:Since my updates are so random I just changed the thread to our club thread.
Love it.
If anyone talks to Jack, tell him I said "thank you!"
I tried calling him to let him know, but didn't get in touch with him.
I wish I could've bought a 2nd one (medusa or spectrum), but didn't have the funds.
I happen to like these projects that take forever to get up and running.
That's what I'm gonna go for. I cleaned the playfield with a barely moist isopropyl rag, rubbing lightly, and the paint was coming off in chunks
I have this weekend off, so I got to it. I've got the kids outside with me playing in between working on it.
I got some outdoor bleach that is really working well on the mold in the cabinet.
I've got all the mechanisms to de-rust one at a time.
Got the rectifier board cleaned up a bit too.
Quoted from kursiv:Yeah keep as is or clear coat!
This is gonna be a scary Centaur
And I want your input kursiv.
This thread is going to be a long one I think. I'm just the first to get started!
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:I love what you guys / gals are doing. Keep up the good work.
I'm stoked people are paying attention to this thread. Thank you!
These games are going to be playable again. The guy that owned them spent years perfecting them, and they all got ruined at once. I want to honor the game, what it has been through, and I want it to play great!
I sure as hell couldn't do this to 20 games, but we can each bring a machine back to life.
The previous owner had this Centaur tricked out. Some of the hardware in the cab was painted black with a beautiful clearcoat on top. I can't imagine the heartbreak of finding your games under water, dirt, sewage.

My Centaur coin door looks similar. Everything happens to be working on mine, so I'm going to try to de-rust it.
Those Mystic parts are yours. I've been busy too. I'll get them off that playfield soon, and let you know when they're ready to ship.
Colson,
I used phosphoric acid for my super-heavily rusted parts. It worked well. It turns the metal a dark un-shiney color, but it's all under the playfield.
After the rust is off, let the parts dry out with the acid gunk on them for 24 hours. Then wash off, dry with a towel, and reassemble.
