Quoted from o-din:I was 16 when this came out and none of my friends or myself cared or wanted to see it.
However bringing in a big star like Marlon Brando probably saved it from becoming the box office flop it probably should have been.
Well....weren't you guys just too cool for school?
Quoted from vid1900:It inspired other directors because they figured, hey if that piece of crap can get made, there is no way I could do worse.
I will give the movie credit for having the first transgendered woman in a major Hollywood movie, Margot Kidder.
It's OK, Vid. You can't be right 100% of the time.
You'll just have to settle for 97%.
Quoted from vid1900:The 1978 Superman was the worst superhero movie ever made, bar none.

DUDE you are SOOO WRONG VID!!! It was a cinematic achievement and a milestone for Superhero movies!!! I won't fight you on 2, 3 or 4, but come on man Kidder was doable! lol
This was the worst superhero movie ever made... Turkish Spiderman guest staring Captain America. In the first 5 mins Spiderman (who's evil in Turkey) and who has eyebrows of fury ordered his goons to take off a woman's face with a spinning boat propeller! lol
Quoted from Sinestro:Well....weren't you guys just too cool for school?
No, but we did prefer cool things.
Apocalypse Now turned out to be a much better Brando outing to our liking.
Pleeeaaaasssssseeeee!!! Pretty pretty, pleeeaaassseee!!! Do this Stern!!!! OMG!! Another dream title!! First Kiss, then Maiden, now Christopher Reeves Superman!! What’s next Ronnie James Dio???
Quoted from vid1900:Big hands, big feet, adams apple and the voice of a truck driver.
C'mon, who was fooled, even back then?
And of course, that calls into question Superman's sexuality, as he could use his x-ray vision and see her junk.
Obviously, no newspaper reporter is going to be able to afford a $1,000,000 dollar penthouse apartment, unless they are providing services to a very specific clientele on the side.
Ha ha I think pretty much all of hollyweird has been trans mutated.
I hope they use Superman 1 and Superman 2 - the Donner Cut.
Put all color changers for the inserts. When Superman regains his power, have the light show go all green.

Just hilarious.
I always thought Batman was better than Superman, because Superman would take care of villains when delivering them to the police. Batman would eff them up first.

I see your Shadow and raise you ...the 1989 Punisher lol
Quoted from gmkalos:I see your Shadow and raise you ...the 1989 Punisher lol
Spoken by someone who knows nothing about action movies. Yes... At times Dolphs acting and Lou Gossips are really bad... Same with Mr. Krabbe... But, there are times when they just nail the scenes and characters and its amazing...
BUT!!! This is a cheesy action movie, and it has one heck of a kill count.
Unlike the tom jane punisher... which is BORING!!!
Also, watch the end action sequence. It has three of the best choreographed fight scenes of ALL TIME! The fights each tell a unique story, but also merge together to tell one great story. First fight Punisher uses his brain over brawn as he realizes the guy is a bit too much for him to handle... Second fight... With him tired and worn out a bit from the first fight. He uses his size and muscle power to beat the quicker more agile woman... Third fight. He is completely spent. And at a disadvantage... But, it's his life on the line and he fights tooth and nail in what would otherwise be an easy fight for him to win.
Simply great fight choreography. And if you don't like action movies... Then don't watch those kinds of movies. But, the movie is amazing. And amazingly cheesy. But, that was what it was meant to be. So many peoples opinions of this film would be different if he had a freaking skull on his chest. BUT, blame Marvel... They sold the rights to the film but denied the use of the skull on the chest. It was in the script.
Quoted from gmkalos:I see your Shadow and raise you ...the 1989 Punisher lol
What about Catwoman and Batman and Robin.

Quoted from BillySastard:This one was by far the worst. Nuclear man was a very inventive villain name.
Well the second Superman film serial with Kirk Allyn actually already used Atomic Man... So, you can't blame them if Nuclear man was all that remained... Still that guy had an impressive physique... Shame the movie stunk... But, the director of that film went on to direct Aces Iron Eagle III... A very bad film... But, it had my favorite(2nd favorite really as Elvira is my fave) pinbabe in it. Rachel Mclish, and she went all Rambo in it. And those bits were enjoyable... Also he directed two Dolph Lundgren movies... One is really bad called Detention... The other while cheesy and low budget actually is really good. The fist fights and choreography are all top notch and just entertaining. The gun fights mostly really bland and bad.... Some good bits, and it has a nice 70s low budget exploration feel to it. That one is Direct Action, and again for 90 minutes... It's a fun ride.
Quoted from Diospinball:Spoken by someone who knows nothing about action movies.
Are you kidding me that movie was so bad MST3K almost did a spoof on it...you need to check out Turkish Spiderman then if it's all about the action for you, who needs to actually act in a movie anyways! lol
Quoted from gmkalos:Are you kidding me that movie was so bad MST3K almost did a spoof on it...you need to check out Turkish Spiderman then if it's all about the action for you, who needs to actually act in a movie anyways! lol
And I would say the same thing to the folks at MST3K... I've seen more action movies than any sane person should... And Dolph Lundgren's fight scenes are some of the best ever. He's akin to Bruce Lee in that his fights tell a story. And though that is something all people in action movies claim and say... It's something very few actually do. Dolph not only changes his fight style to fit his characters, but he doesn't do martial arts if its not in his character... Again... Snipes doesn't really do that, Michael Jai White claims too, but he's always too damn smooth and he knows it. Dolph is quite possibly one of the greatest, if not greatest action movie actor. Arnold can read a script and pick better movies, but Dolph generally always brings something unique to his parts... Watch the movie for its own merits... You'll see what I mean. It was directed by Mark Goldblatt... A man who was the best action movie editor of all time... So trust me the movie has an action pedigree... But, maybe its not for the lay movie person.
Quoted from Astropin:Interested. Reeve was my daughter's first crush... when she was like 5. Classic movie though. Tons of lines you can pull from it.
Otisburg. L'il bitty place.
Quoted from albummydavis:You're wrong. Superman III, or whatever the hell it was called.
No, you're wrong. Original Fantastic 4. The worst. Hands down.
Original 1990 Captain America is pretty bad, too.
The best action movies on planet earth are Jackie Chan flicks, Rumble in the Bronx, Police Story, Project A ect. Dolphy was one of the WORST actors of the 90's to present day. And the punisher was horrible sorry to burst your bubble there Erbert lol.
Also... I think the Shadow for what it is... Is a very enjoyable film... Cheesy, yes... A bit slow and plodding at times yes... But, it has style. John Lone was always a talented actor and makes for a great villain. And the movie was directed by Russell Muchally who directed Highlander and also to bring it back to Dolph his awesome movie Silent Trigger... Movie has style and that dagger freaked me out when I was a kid. So I enjoy the film... Could have been better, but it isn't a turd fest... I like it better than some modern super hero movies like the first Marvel studios captain america. That film was a snoozefest.
Quoted from gmkalos:The best action movies on planet earth are Jackie Chan flicks, Rumble in the Bronx, Police Story, Project A ect. Dolphy was one of the WORST actors of the 90's to present day.
Watch his films... Really watch them... Most people think Dolph is Russian... He's swedish... That my friend is the very heart and soul definition of an actor. He fooled most people... Also, it took him till 96 to loose his accent... But, he's lost it, and he's very good at emoting and doing the little bits that he never gets credit for. He can act. Watch Skin Trade... Watch Command Perfomance.... I love his acting in The Defender. He's got all kinds of hidden beats that everyone looks past. But, the blocking is there... And also watch the Russian Specialist. He's all Charles Bronson in that one...
He's also a great director.... Trust me it takes acting to bring that intensity that he has.
Quoted from PinMonk:No, you're wrong. Original Fantastic 4. The worst. Hands down.

I was going to go that route too but realized it was a TV movie like (Spiderman Nicholas Hammond which I love) but I'm pretty sure the Punisher came right out to VHS lol.
I've seen He Man...spoiler alert it is horrible lol
Quoted from gmkalos:I was going to go that route too but realized it was a TV movie like (Spiderman Nicholas Hammond which I love) but I'm pretty sure the Punisher came right out to VHS lol.
Yes, but that is only because the company went bankrupt and so it had to unload it to vhs... Just bad luck for dolph... AS it would have done nicely in cinemas... not a huge hit but it would have made its modest budget back.

Well, the REASON it was made on the cheap is the producer needed to make SOMETHING to keep the license, and it was a theatrical move, never shown on TV and never officially released in theatres because Arad bought it back and destroyed the prints. That counts. But if it doesn't then 1990 Captain America does, and that's almost as bad.
It's just a killer movie. Gets the tone just right, John Williams' best work, Reeves and the supporting cast are all fantastic.

Yes, Masters of hte Universe is a turd... Gary Goddard is a crap human being and director. But, even though dolph couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag in this film... He was learning, the bits with him as Heman are good. The bits with Courtney Cox on Earth are horrible... If it was a true heman movie and focused just on Heman and Eternia then it would have been enjoyable sci fi/fantasy cheese. But, while the movie had a nice budget of around 18 million and was Canon's highest budgeted movie ever... It still was a bit low to do all that... So they cut corners... And then Canon went bankrupt shortly after too... But, again Dolph was from Sweden and just fell into acting... Give the man credit to see how far he has grown and what he always brought to the table.

Agreed. It has the potential to be a blockbuster pin. Franchi would be a great fit for the artwork. Is this the future KAPOW! title that Christopher Franchi teased would have global/universal appeal? I'm excited!

No, you're wrong.
Quoted from bayoubilly70:The first one, and the parts filmed for the second one at the same time were great. Yes, III is terrible. II is also pretty bad but there are some good moments, but it still sucks. Don't even mention IV quest for peace.
But the first one rocks!
The Theatrical release of Superman II is bad. The Richard Donner cut is much better. The only reason II ended up so bad is because of Warner Bros. firing Donner off the fil while it was finishin production.
Superman II and IV are really bad because they were poorly planed after thoughts.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Probably the best Super Hero movie ever. Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the galaxy II would provide a wealth of quality material. Oh yeah, and Deadpool.
I fixed it for you.

Agreed the Donner cut made it more gritty like the first one, my fav parts of Superman 2 were the diner scenes hands down.
I'm going with "no way" as my prediction on this one. Even if it was Gary's favorite movie in his younger days, I still say they are too good at picking themes to go with this one.

JJP doing Superman based on Man of Steel would be cool.

I think I've had enough of this novelty between Aerosmith and Houdini.
Something like KISS LE would be much more effective, or even on a wire. That'll make Odin happy!
I’m assuming this will be a Kapow game. Joe Kaminkow works for Zynga and Aristocrat. There’s a Superman Slot by Aristocrat and check this app by Zynga - seen a couple of those titles at Stern already. If B66 is anything to go by, at least a Kaminkow will have the licensing sorted....
