CV Fuse 102 blowing each time I connect the back box Molex in picture. I did a playfield swap and cleaning, but everything was working fine prior.

What I’ve done:

1). Checked visual connections and I can’t identify a short.
2). Narrowed it down to when this molex is connected it’s the perpetrator

Thoughts?

Quoted from phishrace:

Power off, set meter to diode (continuity) mode, test each of the wires in that connector for continuity to ground. The one that beeps is your guilty party.

Thanks. I found 2 wires that beeped in that molex when I had rep lead on each molex pin ad the other on the ground braid. One is solid black the other purple with a maroon line. What does that mean?

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

The black one is ground, it’s supposed to beep. The other one is not.
You’ll need to figure out what it’s connected to. Either follow the wires to a component or use the schematics and identify the wire colors in that connector.

Thanks. And now I’m following that wire that beeped to find where it is touching metal somewhere it shouldn’t be, right?

The bad wire that beep is violet red. Back box kick solenoid that fires the balls. What should I be looking for ?

Thanks. Does it matter that the beep on the multimeter happens when I touch the pin side that goes back to the driver boards?

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

That might mean nothing. Testing things in circuit can give false readings because so many possible paths exist.
I’d go straight to the coil, disconnect the leads, and test its resistance. According to the manual the backbox kicker is an AE-23-800. It should have about 4.2 ohms resistance. https://www.flippers.com/coil-resistance.html

Thank again everyone. Solved. It was the coil. Really appreciate how this community comes together to help each other out. Maybe pinball is the answer to our country’s many divides.
