This is the second time I have encountered this and this time I figured I would take some pictures of how to fix this annoying problem

Over time the threaded nuts that are countersunk in the wood of the body for the head bolts of theese games eventually falls out or strips out

The worst is when they not only fall out of the wood but get cross threaded on the head bolt making it nearly impossible to ratchet the bolt out. I have tried in the past spending hours trying to hold the threaded nut with pliers but it’s nearly impossible to undo a cross threading

What needs to be done is drill slow and steady moving up in bit sizes
You will eventually start to get through the top of the bolt and into the long part of the bolt

After an hour or so of drilling it will eventually the head will fall off And the bolt will fall into the cabinet solving the problem with very little damage to anything else. This is my second time dealing with this and much easier this time

I have found this is the easiest way to fix it just watch out for a friction fire since it can occur and will if you are drilling to heavy and the wood starts rubbing

I hope this helps someone because it’s a very frustrating problem to deal with and it is very hard to grind or apply heat since you are dealing with such a tight area

Good tips and excellent recommendations
I used a nice stainless one and it became dull over awhile it is used

Switched to an anodized one and it started shredding metal and the wood started generating heat as you said probably too fast but you are in a precarious position trying to do all this

Finally went back to the stainless tip but a smaller sharper one and it seemed to finish up the hole I made in the top of the bolt

This is never fun nor easy but with good info it can make the task a lot easier and little to no damage

That’s what it’s all about
I love hearing stories like this
The first time it happened I’m like you have to be kidding me. Now what do I do?? I came on here and gathered enough info to get the first one done which took me a few days.
This time was a matter of an hour or so to have the whole thing fixed.
My whole hope for this thread is to help someone else who has this issue down the road.
Being around such expensive circuitry and parts makes it even worst as the drill can walk off and start spinning all over. Wayne’s world comes to mind Garth in the repair shop lol.

Quoted from Travish:

I have one exactly like that in my Gorgar right now. Been putting it off.

Seems common issue with Williams era pin
First it was jungle lord for me
Then black knight
Good luck but just go slow and take your time
Maybe even walk away a few times and take some breaks. That’s what I did both times and it eventually came off which is worth the battle hahaha
