I'm working on a neighbor's 1973 Bally Sky Kings. I've done quite a bit of work on SS machines but haven't worked much on EM's.

I've run into two issues so far that I can't get a handle on.

1 - At start up, the solenoid coil for the bonus stepper activates and sticks (photo #1).

2 - When the spinner is activated, the spinner relay coil (photo #2) sticks as does the associated solenoid coil on the spinner unit assembly. I'm assuming/guessing the relay coil is the culprit here judging by the condition of the coil wrappers.

Thanks in advance to any help you can provide.

Quoted from Dr_of_Style:

try manually closing the spin relay with your finger, does it lock on? then step the spin unit up manually, and see if the relay coil releases.

Probably should have informed initially that I have played with the spinner playfield switch. The coils (relay & solenoid) still stay energized.

10-4 on replacing the coils. I want to get the problems fixed before I install and fry new ones.

Quoted from goldenboy232:

Regarding #1, have you serviced/lubricated the bonus unit?

I have not yet serviced the bonus stepper. However, it moves freely and resets on initial startup.
