Kind of stymied with this one.

When either flipper is activated, both slings are also activated. I'm convinced it isn't a switch issue. Hitting the flipper in the switch test does not show the sling switches as being activated.

Also, if I ground the center lug on either flipper coil, the slingshots are also activated.

Been all day at this, and getting nowhere

Quoted from LTG:

I'm convinced it is a switch issue.
Start a game, bang on playfield hard. Do they fire then ? If so turn game off and adjust your slingshot leaf blade switches. Front long one just resting on rubber ring. Rear shorter one close enough so the slightest ball hit triggers it, but vibration doesn't.
LTG : )

The sling switches aren't showing up in test, and seem to be gapped correctly.

I tried banging on the playfield as LTG suggested. That doesn't trigger the slings

So I'm a bit new to this era of Williams. The Fliptronic board is in the upper left corner, correct?

Working on posting a video to better illustrate the issue. Will have to pull the boards to look for solder splashes

The video for posterity

Just in case anyone comes across this same issue

So the Fliptronic board looks good. No hacks, no sketchy soldering. Transistors and diodes all test good on my DMM.

That's the thing - Where is this weird short?

Something I've noticed. May or may not be a clue. The flippers are somewhat weak. Like the available energy is divided among the 3 coils.

Quoted from Mitch:

How do the boards look any acid damage.

no - nice original condition

So I'm trying to understand the wiring myself. If I understand correctly, the flippers are powered from J902 from the Fliptronics board. The bottom flippers are powered with the Blue-Gray on the left, and Blue-Violet on the right.

As a test, I unplugged the J902, and the flippers no longer energize. The flipper switches register properly. The slingshots work correctly.

J107 on the driver board is the power for the slingshot coils. With J902 plugged in, and J107 unplugged, neither the slingshots, or the flippers energize. I would expect the flippers to work in this situation.
