Hi,

My STTNG right cannon is firing but not when it is in the right position. Only in the home position.

I tried to check the switches at the canon below the playfield but both left and right canon do not register both switches in switch test. (I turned the cannons using the menu option, then went to switch test and triggered both switches of the canon) Left and right canons are not registering the switches. Is this normal behaviour?

The left canon is working flawlessly, it shoots the ball without any problem. The right worked before also. The right now only fires when it is in the home position. It triggers when I shoot but it does not fire the coil in the canon.

See video for a better idea of the problem. I shoot the ball in the middle with the gun trigger. It fires the ball at the end. This also happens when I do not shoot the gun trigger. I automatically shoots the ball from the cannon at the home position.

I assume there is a switch problem below the canon mech. But I cannot determine which switch is wrong.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

with this test you can see the state of both switches

Try this.
Use the cannon test to turn the cannon to about half way.
Leave cannon test so that it stays in that position.
Now go into coil test.
See if the cannon will fire.

We are ruling out a flaky wire harness to the cannon.

The cannon does not know what position it is in. At home position in your right cannon test it should say both switches closed - closed. The ball should not be able to be shot in that position if the cannon opto switch is reading "open" with the ball in position.
As you press the red test mode button the cannon turns and first the home switch should open and then the mark switch should open. As the cannon returns to its home position the switches close in reverse order.
There are two switches under the cannon. Lift up the playfield and check if they are in their proper position and the micro switch arms are not broken/bend or dislodged. If they are not then most likely one of the switches is faulty. Also make sure wiring to the switches is not damaged and the switch diode is not broken at the solder point.
Once all this checks out then check cannon wires.
