STTNG - Random errors occuring

Hi,

While playing Star Trek Next Gen, I can play loads of games and then after finishing a game I will notice a dot after the Free Play text. Go to the test and it will give me an error such as Spinner error. I do a switch test and all is fine and the error will go away.

I then continue playing and again it will happen, but this time with a completely different error which I can also rectify by going through the Switch test.

Why would this be happening? Perhaps a good clean of contacts needed under the playfield?

This is the "is it plugged in" question that is the basis for all frustrating tech support calls but more often than not solves the problem.

Errors like that are usually a result of not tripping certain switches regularly during game play. If you consistently miss the Borg lock, then it will give you that error. If you miss the right bank middle target, it will give you an error there.

That is the easy fix, hit switches more often. If you are consistently hitting those switches and getting the error, then there is a deeper problem.

Now that you have said that it does make sense! I was not hitting the Borg Lock for instance and that was an error that came up.
If I manage to hit one of these after the error has come up, does it right itself automatically or would it be a case of once the error has appeared on screen the only way of correcting it is to activate it in the Switch Test menu?

The error will go away if you hit the switch in game play.

The threshold is set for around every 50 balls or 10 games on 5 ball. Annoying on DM if no one plays with the triggers on the handles for a few games.
