Like others have mentioned, this is minor ghosting and is caused by a separation of the clear coat from insert and occurs at the edges. This machine appears to have no ghosting around the shield inserts which is very hard to find in a STTNG. IMO is these inserts are the only thing wrong with the machine, at under $5K USD its reasonably priced. If you have to have a perfect play field you may want to consider buying a new reproduction board and doing a full playfield replacement, either in this machine or another with a decent cabinet and board set.
