Quoted from comment23:How the heck do you remove the plastic crank from the gun motor ? How do I get that set pin out? Apparently Marco doesn't sell them already attached.
This roll/set pin is currently ruining my life
I ended up hiring a professional to fix my right cannon, since the roll pin scared me and I've never worked on a STTNG before.
Great decision! He was FANTASTIC and even removed both cannons to re-lube them, and also wrapped the harness a different way so it wouldn't bind up on anything.
My STTNG is now absolutely perfect and I am thrilled
I was confounded for a minute as to why the trough was emptying into the shooter lane on game start... checked all the trough optos, connectors and shooter lane switch... scratched my head a bit... then did the "ball eject" function and laughed as a total of 9 balls ended up being ejected from different parts of the game
Quoted from Zitt:9? Hopefully, 6.
It should have been 6! Turns out the game gets really angry if there's more than 6 in there, and empties the entire trough into the shooter lane.
Don't those require screwing into the cabinet? I'd rather avoid that. Just something to keep the metal legs from digging into/rubbing against the cabinet art, my first instinct is soft felt.
My cabinet is original and screened, sounds like the metal protectors are a good consensus. I'll get those and 8 of the slightly longer black bolts. Thanks everyone!
One last question, are they hidden completely by the legs? It might look odd with bare metal between the dark cabinet and black legs.
A set from pinballlife is on its way!
On another note, I currently have the "LA-7" and "L1 Music/Speech" ROMs, are those fine for a ColorDMD? Their website says "LX-7" is required.
I got it from ThinkGeek:
https://www.thinkgeek.com/product/kjtk/
It was on sale at the time, so it was just under $100 shipped. It's a pretty high quality rug, just has to flatten out and "fluff" a bit. I like it a lot!

ThinkGeek currently has 50% off everything and free shipping with the code DOTCOM - makes this rug about $75 shipped. Nice deal!
NVRAM makes no difference in gameplay, it's just the inability to keep correct time that you mentioned... which it sucks at even with original batteries so no big deal!
The right side of my cabinet is up against the wall, but if no one else delivers within a few hours I'll pull it out and take a pic!
GLM has great products, though they were having fulfillment issues earlier this year so I'd check to make sure whatever you want is in stock first.
And yes, HEP is the top-end of pin restoration in my opinion. If I had the money, I'd have at least one!
Here's a STTNG he did: http://christopherhutchins.com/gallery/album435
