In the club as of yesterday. Time to start reading through this forum for all the fixes I'll need to do.MVIMG_20200809_231738 (resized).jpgMVIMG_20200809_231738 (resized).jpg

Quoted from Manny65:

Welcome to the club!!
To be honest if you have no errors, just focus on playing the crap out of your machine
The only preventative maintenance would be the tieback - there are plenty of sites showing details (Google "STTNG tieback") here are a few:
https://pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation#Diode_.22Tie_Back.22_missing_causes_8-Driver_Board_transistor_to_fail
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/sttng-tieback
There are various things that can fail on STTNG but I wouldn't worry about them until they do fail
- cannon wire looms are known to fail from the constant twisting
- there are a lot of optos used, especially in the VUKs for the cannons as well as the trough. These are prone to colder solder joints.
- the single drop target, on the right orbit above the pops, can sometimes need a bit of attention
Have fun!!

Can you tell if mine is done already from these pictures or if I still need to do it?

Guys I'm gonna do the zaza method of no soldering by attaching the wires direct in the head but I'm not 100 percent sure which purple wire I should be cutting away from the coils? Thanks for the help.

The lights in the backboard along the white yellow line are out. I've changed the fuses and no dice. Where should they be connected in the back box so I can source the line. Thanks

Quoted from Pin_Guy:

They SHOULD be connected to J120; that being said, J120 and J121 connectors are electrically identical and keyed the same, so it could be on either one, you will know by the wire colors.

Thanks. Ill look tonight. I used the manual for the fuses, but couldn't find this page...

#4549 3 years ago

So yes. J120 was all burnt up. Should I order a new connector or move the wires to j121?

Quoted from Manny65:

A new connector is the way to go

Thanks. Ordering it.

#4553 3 years ago
Quoted from Pin_Guy:

When a connector burns like that you really should replace both the connector and the header. That being said, I've seen boards that were severely damaged by folks that was "fairly certain" or "pretty sure" they could replace the header. Unless you know for a fact you can do it because you've replaced dozens or hundreds of headers just like it ... you may not want to try it.
While it will work if you just move the wires to J121 it's less than ideal; but is still better than damaging the board.

Thanks for all your help.

Sorry. It's the white plastic bar under the guns . It's broken at the bottom.

Got my new plastic arm in for under the gun but any clue how to get the pin out that was attached to the old arm? Need to remove it to slide the short side arm over this post. So far having no luck getting it out.

Quoted from Mathazar:

You need a roll pin punch set and a lot of patience. I had to take the whole cannon assembly out, put it on my bench, and hammer away. Broke one of my roll pin punches in the process, but I got the pin out.

Can someone take a picture of the correct assembly of the under Borg start mission shot. It stopped working and it looks like something is missing from my assembly. Thanks

Your white/purple wire is broken off....look closely in the pic you posted

Aha. So it is. I'll get that fixed tonight . Does everything else look right?

Quoted from Pin_Guy:

You have a small hack that was done, probably to replace a broken target reset plate.
