I just finished doing a PF swap on my STTNG. Things are mostly okay, but I seem to have developed a short in one of the GI strings. I suspect that I did not re-connect the wiring to the pop bumper bulbs properly, as the pictures I took of this area were a little sketchy. Could someone let me know what is the proper wire color to each leg of the three P/B bulbs? Thanks!

Quoted from aahgo:

Thanks, I’ll check this out tonight!

Pictures helped, I had mine correct, but this directed me to look at other things... turned out the lamp socket under the left cannon had the tabs touching. All good now. Thanks for the help!

You could always slip a 2 X 4 under the back levelers.

Anyone ever had the Borg multiball start prematurely and then never end - return to duty flashes continuously and keeps launching balls. Just started this issue recently. I know there is a lot of discussion about dirty optos and trough issues, which I can re-visit, but would they cause the return to duty to stay on? Seems more like a software issue?

I put in LX-8 a couple of months ago, but it has been okay up til now.

Okay, I was mistaken on the LX-8. I thought I had installed it, but have not. I am still on L7.

So I just stated a game and chose start mission at launch. It started battle simulation. I shot the ball into the neutral zone and it immediately started borg multi-ball (like as if there were already two locked and a third was shot into the lock).

I put it into switch test and banged on the PF and was finding some switch hits. Eventually I discovered one wire was making intermittent contact with the Q target switch. Soldered it back on and it seems to be working again I'll run some more games through it tonight to make sure it's solid. Thanks for your comments and guidance.

LX-8 will get installed soon. The broken wire was buried underneath a wire bundle and not easily seen.

Quoted from GCS2000:

Looking over my STTNG and noticed my subway bracket with the diverters has had some serious repairs and reworked.
Does this all need to be rebuilt with new?
Diverters cannot be tested due to no boards and fries coils which will be replaced when I get parts. Left diverter is fully locked when moving manually right has some movement but not full range. Of course the fried coils are locking things down. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Just a PSA for new owners, it is always a good idea to remove all balls before lifting the playfield, but it is especially critical with this game. The subway is such a long run and the balls will crash down to the end and break the plastic.
