GReetings!
I've got a STTNG that has an issue. Neither the left gun mark, Left Gun Home, Right Gun Mark or right Gun Home switches register in test mode. I've gone into tests, set the guns rotated both so they're at about 45degree angles (as to get off all 4 switches) and put the game into Switch Edge mode.
With all 6 balls removed, The game shows the following:
Sw 24 - Closed
All of Column 3
All of Column 4
All of Column 6 except Switch 68 ( shooter)
When I attempt to click by hand any of cannon Mark or Home switches, nothing registers.
If I disconnect the violet/white wire at 8 driver board J5-1, nothing changes. Verified the purple/white wire at 0 ohms testing from J5-1 to the connector leading into the home and stop switches under the left cannon, where it terminates. (connection is solid)
If I disconnect the J209 from the CPU board, ALL the boxes in test mode clear except Column 2 row 4.
So it sounds like something is not registering the switch inputs from under the playfield for the violet/white column in the switch matrix. A visual inspection as well checking with a meter shows the purple wire isn't broken.
Now what's weird is I can take a wire and jump across the switches Middle and post and the non ring side of the diode on the switch and it will register 2 switch movements in rapid succession. (but activating the switch manually won't do anything) But it shows Switch 35/45, 36/46 on the right cannon and switch 37/47 and 32/42 on the left cannon. This tells me that the wiring in the game is capable of detecting those wires are getting signal back to the CPU, so I don't think this is a wiring issue.
This game was working fine last week, and has not been moved or stressed.
Any advise on what to check next?
