Hi, I've just bought a Sttng which is all working fine but there is a really annoying problem with the three green shields above the enterprise. I think what happened at some point in the past was that the ball tore the decal on the inserts so someone tried to fix it by sticking a single curved piece of mylar right over the top of all the three shields (I'm assuming that wasn't factory fitted). The ball then tore right through the mylar as well. As you can see in the pictures, I now have hardened ripped and pitted mylar sticking up. I'm looking for advice on how to proceed. The rest of the mylar is looking reasonably good so don't want to take the large piece of mylar up if I can avoid it and I'm thinking of only trying to correct the shields themselves. I have bought a set of adhesive decals which have the curved shield shapes within the set. But not sure how to prepare the shields ready to use them/seal them etc. How would you suggest doing this?

1 make a cardboard shield for the mylar you want to save.
2 use a hair dryer to soften the mylar on the inserts and slowly lift it off.
3 remove glue

good starting point

jimjam,

Thanks very much for your advice. Presumably I will need to cut up to the edges of the cardboard stencil with a craft knife before trying to lift the unwanted mylar within the three shields. What would you recommend covering the decal with to secure it down and bring the playfield to the same level if necessary?
