Mine were all gunked before I shopped it out.
After I cleaned and reassembled them, I did not apply any sort of lubricant. Upon reassembly they worked perfectly.

No.
Mine was working but the motor seemed to be struggling because it was all gunked up.
Both the cannon looms had been replaced by the previous owner.
