Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Did you check to see if you have a blown F101 to F105?

Sorry to dredge up old topics but this one seems to be closely related to my issue and I can't find another solution. My "Under Divertor bottom" coil on STTNG burnt up and stunk up my entire basement, yuk . I did some pinside research which pointed me to the 8-Driver Board. I found transistor Q16 was torched so I replaced that along with the corresponding diode D16. I plugged everything back in, ran solenoid tests and the game worked great for around 20 games before the same coil started smoking.

I did some more pinside research which eventually brought me to this post. So I looked at the 8-Driver Board again and it looks OK this time. I checked the drop target coil to make sure it has the three wires attached to the coil per this post https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/sttng-auxiliary-transistor-board-issues#post-3260461, which it does have all 3 attached. Then I see in this thread to check blown F101 to F105 fuses and I did find a blown F103 fuse.

So I guess what my question is I have replaced the fuse but before I soldier in a new coil and play another game would a blown F103 fuse cause the "Under Divertor bottom" coil to burn up and related 8-Driver board trouble? Is replacing that enough or is there something else you can think of before I blow the coil again?

I've also reseated the ribbon cable several times and cleaned the contacts/pins with electronics spray cleaner.

Thanks guys. I decided to just replace most of the related stuff with new stuff as I am really tired of smelling burnt coil and messing around with it. I have some parts on order (coils, ribbon cable, connectors/trifurcon pins, and rotten dog 8 power board). I'll make the pinwiki mod, plug it all in, cross my fingers, and hope to play a few games without a coil burning up. Just have to find the time to do it all.
