I had strange situation may be similar to your.
Power On-locked the top diverter,like it's transistor is bad.
Replaced the coil-same thing
After that reset several times the ribbon cable on 8-driver board and fixed it.
How you test the ribbon cable?
Did you try with another from another machine?
Or better if you have another 8-drive board to borrow.
