Proud new owner of a SF2 Pinball and here are some personal edits I made to Riefepeters awesome Apron Cards for Street Fighter II: Champion Edition. Plus, my Custom "F.I.G.H.T.E.R." insert that can be placed over the existing decal with double sided tape. Enjoy!!

Working on a new Translite design. Here is a mockup on my cab. What do you guys think? Trying to match the playfield and side art a bit.

Quoted from Jappie:

I really like the concept: M Bison behind all the other characters just looks cool.
The composition is a bit too scattered in the center for my taste though. Spread the characters a bit more over the translite while keeping a nice composition and you have a winner imho.

I may have to create a collage separately in that case. This is from 2 combined art posters (world warriors, and champion edition) with everything already in place. Only thing i can modify is making them bigger to take up more space. I do understand your crowded point.

Do you think making an original Bonus Game Scene background for the lower playfield would be overkill? I just hate looking at the “firehouse” scenery inside that has nothing to do with the game...

Quoted from Chitownpinball:

My vote is for this one, the ocean with more ship showing. I was just thinking about this...
YOU ARE AWESOME. This would go very nicely with a certain mod I know about.

Thanks brother! I also think it would look cool and should have an awesome effect with some upgraded LEDs down there. Also, if you are speaking of Latenite04's Headlamp mod, I would love that as well! First thing I have to figure out before doing all of this, is why doesn't my car kick back all the way when I hit it? The lower playfield plays well, and I still receive a "You Win" response after hitting it but, after seeing a few other videos, i noticed my car doesn't get kicked back enough to reveal the "Winner" light below the car. I doubt if the rod even reaches the optics in the back. I have run the Test Mode and when I chose the "Car Reset" test and hit the start button, nothing happens. Could this be a bad solenoid that needs to be replaced? I have already done some cleaning and removal of the lower playfield so I feel confident in doing the repair. Just need to know what to purchase and if it is indeed a bad solenoid. Thanks for any help in advance!

#1258 3 years ago
Quoted from latenite04:

Solenoids don't go bad too often but it's possible, look for any loose wires and check the molex connector that attaches the release coil to the harness to make sure it's not worn. There's a few physical things that could be stopping it from working.

Chitownpinball asked me about printing a car closer in color to the lexus and if decals were possible. This is the first attempt so far, I'm waiting on actual decals.

latenite04 thanks so much for those pics with the info! I will pull the lower playfield tonight and go over it again. I know i tried pulling the release plate all the way forward and it would not register/contact. Right now i have it the furthest distance and it’s working but the car is not kicking back all the way. My next thought may be the spring length. I just changed them because the old ones were worn, but they may be a shorter length than the ones you show in the picture. Below is an attached pic of the ones i have installed. I bought these from Marco Specialties because i wasn't sure which springs to order and these looked close enough. Lol

As for your printed car, that looks awesome! Love the idea of decals you place over elements of the car to make it look more like a Lexus LS400. Genius. Is it possible the print can be sanded down? I only ask this because i wanted to (if possible of course) try my hand at polishing/sanding it down a bit to remove some of the print lines and smooth out some edges. I also know a resin caster/molder who has done some custom figures for me in the past. If we can get good looking results, we could ask her to make a small run of them for you. I wouldn’t need compensation at all. I would just love for us all to have better replacement for the horrendous og car that is in need of an major upgrade.

latenite04 do you have a link by chance for the correct springs? Or do you know the length so i may check Lowes/Home Depot? Thanks again.

#1262 3 years ago

Here is a 1/43 scale of a Lexus LS400 I just purchased on eBay. Fingers crossed, I'm going to see if it fits when it comes in from HK. I'll break it down to it's shell and see if its easy to replicate. I did some color edits to make it look similar to the car in SF2. I may also add a "broken windows effect" to the glass. That might be a nice touch.

latenite04 Here is the video of the car crush problem I am having. Maybe you can tell what is going on...

#1267 3 years ago

Here are some "Losing Face" Figures I bought to try out on the playfield. The bloody faces really add to the beat em' up gameplay. I tried to line up most fighters with their corresponding targets. They would definitely look better on the playfield without the "CONTINUE?" base but I paid a pretty penny for them so I don't wont to destroy them either. I may try to mold/replicate a set and try them again w/o the base.

Quoted from latenite04:

I would remove the car crunch playfield and check if it will move back by hand. It looks like the car is hitting something. Is the front where it mounts cracked and re-glued? Maybe it's sitting a little low and the back of the car is running into the rod support.

latenite04 Just removed everything again and physically slid the rod myself without the release plate and it doesn't look like anything is restricting movement. What i am thinking is that either the springs are too short or the flipper is not hitting hard enough to actually move the car. I have noticed less flipper power the further back the car goes. Could that be an issue?

#1270 3 years ago
Quoted from latenite04:

Is your eos switch adjusted correctly? Is it closed until just before the flipper travel ends?

Ill double check that. If not, do I need to loosen the screws and reseat the flipper?

#1273 3 years ago
Quoted from Malenko:

Piece of black electrical tape?

Sorry Malenko I meant they would look better without the black base, period. If you notice a few of them are a little crooked, it's because the base doesn't sit completely over the plastic playfield and may hang off a bit. Blanka and Zangief are good examples. Had to kinda turn Blanka sideways to fit and Zangief with his mowhawk and base make him too tall to sit up on top of his target without hitting the glass. The glass will not slide closed with him but removing the base would give me that 1/2 inch clearance and make a lot of these look better on the playfield.

Looking for some help here. I switched out a few bad bulbs from the Lightbox while powered off. Now, when i turn the power back on, only the flashers are working. Do i need to change a fuse or did i screw up something worse? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

#1276 3 years ago
Quoted from sc0ttf:

Hey Benny,
I would imagine a fuse has blown, classic example of what your experiencing I did that quite recently.
First thing I would check is the GI fuses:
F3
F3
F6
F9
If you find a blown fuse replace it (with machine off) then keep the Playfield up and power up the machine and keep an eye on the fuses to see if they blow again, if they do then something is tripping it. Otherwise the GI should be back and happy days.
Thanks,
Scott

Dude, you rock! It was a simple 15amp fuse replacement on F8 (Lightbox Illumination). Got a 6 pack from Auto Zone a mile away. All good now! ✌

Quoted from sc0ttf:

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows what you need to do to get the game announcer to yell outside "BULLSEYE" I had an issue with the bracelet switch which kept activating when not touched, and I heard the game yell that out, fixed the switch but I have no idea how to get him to say that, I get BULLSEYE (if missed I hear "Early" or "Late" but nothing on BULLSEYE) when launching and hit the bracelet after the ball passes through Blanka but there is no sounds besides Zangief laughing.
Any idea guys?
Thanks
Scott

sc0ttf There are two targets on the Bracelet Target. The rectangular area is a normal shot and will give you whatever value is shown when you launch the ball. If the center pin in the rectangle is hit, it will double the value. So a “bullseye” 20 million becomes 40 mill. The weird thing is that if you hit the center pin, Sagat will laugh but if you hit the rectangle, it will yell “Bullseye!”....very confusing. Not sure if that answers the question but this is what i have found..

Just wanted to share some upgrades/repairs that i’ve done so far in the month that i’ve own this baby. Gave the playfield and glass a full cleaning (the parts that i could reach without a complete teardown). Swapped out all the bulbs on the gi and backbox with Comet LEDs minus two flashers under the ball launch rail I cant reach lol. Translucent Titan rubbers for the playfield and orange for the flippers. New Gottlieb flipper bats. New custom apron cards. New lower playfield window, custom “wrecked” car and new springs. New Smart target that was missing in the back. I honestly went through all 25 pages and read every comment and feedback you guys left. It was what made me confident that i could install everything myself, even though this is the first pinball machine i’ve ever opened up before. So, thank you everyone. Still have “Cliffys,” a new custom backbox translite, and some playfield toys coming in, but i love this project so far and putting in your own work makes it more likely to stay in the collection for a long time. Pics of before and after below (so far)

Please share some pictures of your wrecked car mod! I'm not sure yet what to do with mine.

Found this ‘74 Ford Escort diecast at Target for $8. Cut the back out with some wire clippers and gave it some damage. I personally love the look. Its temporary until my Lexus LS300 model comes in and i can customize it.

Really loving this custom Translite. The material isn't great and the colors look a bit washed so i may be doing a reprint to get more vibrant colors. This’ll do fine for now.

Finally got around to “modding” the lower playfield side rails. Wanted to make the whole area look like the “Car Crush” Bonus Stage in SFII. Custom artwork pulled from a screenshot. Let me know what you guys think...

Quoted from ish08kazuya:

Just scored a playfield with lots of extra parts. Even had the original car. Got it with the intent to use as wall art and now considering to do the swap. Really surprised at how clean even the sub ramps are.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Let me know if you decide to sell the lower “Car Crush” playfield area. I believe I’m missing one of the two opto boards, and my car (even before modding it) never went completely back to reveal the “Winner” lamp.

#1317 2 years ago
Quoted from kevster:

Hey everyone, just joined the SF2 pinball owners club! I love this pin; think it's so much fun.
I'm still new to owning pinball machines and really haven't done any maintenance. I've noticed that the two ramps on my SF2 aren't moving up and down like they're supposed to. They're both always in the down position. It seems to still be fully playable as the Sagat and Vega opponents still light up normally (though they're hard to see when lit as they're blocked by the ramps) and register as defeated when hit, but I'd like to get the ramps to function as designed. But I don't even know where to start. Any suggestions for a total beginner?

Quoted from Time a few pages back

“ I think its pretty common. Neither my ramps lift right now. I looked into it and we're suppose to replace the coils with the "stargate" ramp coils. Guess it wasn't ever done in your machine like mine. Search Gottlieb SF2 Stargate coils here and you should find info on the issue. It could be the transistor too, see https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/street-fighter-ii-right-stargate-ramp

Thanks brother. I found one off Retrocity in Australia. Their service preloads the Pin2Dmd for you, but it’s nice to have the og files as a backup. Your hard work is Much appreciated.

Malenko Is it fairly easy to edit the Pin2dmd files? I love the colorization and animations you made, but there are a few elements I would love to clean up a bit. Like, the Losing Faces after beating a Fighter, i want to edit them to look more like the video games plus the Ken & Ryu shot when the fireworks go off… I’d like to mess around with that a bit and add some color. Thanks.
