Joined the SF2 pinball club. I mostly come from a video game kiosk collection background and got into pinballs recently. Have a super mario bros pinball on the way to keep the video game theme going. Got the custom apron cards thanks to this community and also did the cheapo pinstadium lighting using 2 tv bluetooth LED strips and a home depot 6ft aluminum angle cut in half. $40 investment but came out very nice. The story behind this pinball is the guy i bought it purchased the machine from a guy who left it in a shed. Someone apparently broke into the machine thinking to find quarters so the playfield was a mess with glass shards and dust. Hard to believe since the condition of the outside of the cabinet looks really good. Ryu mod was done by the previous owner and love it. Hope to add the lexus car instead of having the red corvette inside at some point. Adding the cliffys soon as alot of wear on the pocket holes.

Cleaning up a game for a friend. Can some body post a closeup pic of the plastic or part that should go next to the zangief ramp ? Right now balls are getting stuck there.

That’s perfect, thank you. Looks like I’m missing the skinny plastic and the king piece of metal which probably stops the ball from getting stuck

Really loving this custom Translite. The material isn't great and the colors look a bit washed so i may be doing a reprint to get more vibrant colors. This’ll do fine for now.

Finally got around to “modding” the lower playfield side rails. Wanted to make the whole area look like the “Car Crush” Bonus Stage in SFII. Custom artwork pulled from a screenshot. Let me know what you guys think...

Has anyone ever installed side blades in their Street Fighter Pinball? Retrorefurbs is selling 3 versions but I am unsure how they would actually look like in the pinball. Does anyone have a picture of their pinball with side blades installed? Would be great to see beforehand
If there are any other side blades.. I would be interested to know.

Just scored a playfield with lots of extra parts. Even had the original car. Got it with the intent to use as wall art and now considering to do the swap. Really surprised at how clean even the sub ramps are.

Let me know if you decide to sell the lower “Car Crush” playfield area. I believe I’m missing one of the two opto boards, and my car (even before modding it) never went completely back to reveal the “Winner” lamp.

Hey everyone, just joined the SF2 pinball owners club! I love this pin; think it's so much fun.

I'm still new to owning pinball machines and really haven't done any maintenance. I've noticed that the two ramps on my SF2 aren't moving up and down like they're supposed to. They're both always in the down position. It seems to still be fully playable as the Sagat and Vega opponents still light up normally (though they're hard to see when lit as they're blocked by the ramps) and register as defeated when hit, but I'd like to get the ramps to function as designed. But I don't even know where to start. Any suggestions for a total beginner?

Quoted from Time a few pages back

“ I think its pretty common. Neither my ramps lift right now. I looked into it and we're suppose to replace the coils with the "stargate" ramp coils. Guess it wasn't ever done in your machine like mine. Search Gottlieb SF2 Stargate coils here and you should find info on the issue. It could be the transistor too, see https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/street-fighter-ii-right-stargate-ramp

#1318 2 years ago

Awesome, thanks for that, Benny. Appreciate it.

I've also noticed that the lower right VUK is weak. I found another thread on that, so hopefully I'll be able to diagnose and fix that issue as well.

Just joined the club with a reimport and am trying to figure out how to wire up a coin switch for location play.
It had this crazy self-contained coin mech I've never seen before.

Can someone please take a few photos of the coin switch wiring with wire color?
Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know what happened to the SF2 colorization files? I finally made the jump into a few boards and definitely wanted to put one in SF2... I looked out on the VPin forums, but could only see files for the virtual, not for a real game. Is Malenko still around/active in here?

Hi! Glad to see people still use the colorization. I really miss my SFII but the cheapest one I found around here was over 2 grand :/

^Those are the latest files still. I thought about a 64 color edition, but I only want to do it if I had the actual machine to enjoy them on.

Would somebody be willing to post close up pics of the metal plates above the left and right VUKs? Those two holes (E Honda and M Bison) are really hard for me to hit on my pin. The ball tends to bounce hard off those plates and rarely fall in. I tend to only make those shots off of lucky slingshot rebounds. The only other SF2 pin I've played (at the Las Vegas Pinball HoF) was MUCH easier to hit those targets. Makes me wonder if those plates above the VUKs are installed incorrectly.

Not great but maybe helpful. I’ve been looking for a replacement pad on my right one.

Today I added Lit Kit Flippers to my SF2 pinball (http://www.ArcadeMade.com)

The car crunch flipper comes on and flashes first before exclusively lighting up just during that mode which is kind of fun.

I’ll post a video of it also with some better ambient lighting. Blue is a bit hard to photograph and it makes things look brighter than they actually are.

I am a new owner, few months now, So the ball goes down the drain, and sometime it does not register. If I hit the right bumper while the ball is in the drain, then it will. Sometimes ball goes into kicker holes, and it wont let me choose an option and it goes to the default. Now I just had a new crush car installed with lights....could this be a voltage issue?

What is the length for the legs on the Street Fighter pinball? Picked up a project game that was missing the legs. The DMD display panel is also missing. Is that a regular DMD panel like Williams, Data East, etc or special for the Gottlieb machines? Have a lot or work to do before I can even think of powering it up. Going to start gathering parts.

Seems like it may be a cool game and definitely different than my others.

My machine has 31" legs, I think they are original.

The DMD panel is two pieces, the back is MDF that the dmd and speakers mount to and there is a plexiglass front panel. If you search ebay for "gottlieb system 3 dmd panel" there's a few used ones for sale, or you could cut your own.

I've got an svg for the layout of the front speaker panel plastic in this google drive share.

Thanks for the clarification on the legs. At least I know what to look for.

I guess I wasn’t clear about the DMD. The panel with speakers is there but the actual DMD is gone. I have a spare out of a Data East but that is a high voltage DMD panel and I’m not sure if that will work. If not then I need to look for a DMD as well.

Can someone post a clean picture of the fuse chart for the power brick in the bottom of the cabinet? I have the manual which has the fuse list but I didn’t see a diagram that shows what the fuse holder numbers are for those.

The ones under the playfield are well marked. Looked through the photo gallery for this thread but didn’t find a good picture.

Making progress on my project game. It's running! well, mostly. I pulled off the dead MPU battery and installed a coin cell holder for a new 2430 battery. Game is setup for 110V operation. It had been set to 220V since it was a re-import. Many assemblies were stuck from sitting but are working now. Still need to disassemble and clean a few.

At the moment there are few things to get working:

- Upper Left flipper isn't working. Coil seems to check out ok. It looks like the cabinet flipper switch on the left has two sets of contacts. Which set of those controls the upper flipper? Should be able to track this issue down soon.

- Motor isn't running but I do hear the relay clicking when the test runs. Should that motor have power all the time and run whenever the relay is actuated? Is there a fuse just for the motor power? I've tried cleaning the relay contacts but they may still be dirty. Just want to get a better idea on how that is all controlled.

- The rest just seems to be some lamps out on the sides of the car, some in the backbox, and some flash lamps. Still could be bad bulbs, corroded sockets (likely), or a bad driver on the board.

Overall my impression of the game is good. Seems to play well and has a couple innovative features.

#1343 1 year ago

Was able to get the motor running. With the playfield up I temporarily used a jumper wire across the terminals for the contacts and it ran. Just had to give those contacts a more thorough cleaning and adjust. Makes a big difference with it running as it should.

Fixed. Just used a jumper on the cabinet switch and that upper flipper worked ok. Confirmed that the contacts towards the inside of the game are the ones that control the upper flipper. I've never seen contacts so bad and it took quite a bit more filing to clean them up. More than I've ever had to do in the past. Working well now but I'm going to order fresh cabinet switches.

I think I'm just down to fixing lamps that are out and then LOTS of cleaning, fresh rubber rings, replace the shooter rod, and replace the power cord. Getting closer to a playable game. Definitely some interesting shots in this game.

Good afternoon. Quick question: What sort of voltage should I be seeing at the flipper coils? My flippers are weak despite a recent rebuild. Thanks!

#1346 1 year ago

Did some more investigating. The coil voltage on the flippers, when activated, is 60VDC. Does this seem high? What few references I found online appear to call out a 48V system. Shouldn't the voltage be decreasing one the EOS switch opens? Also of note is that the arc on the EOS is BIG. So the point where the contacts are frosted over with this white oxide stuff. I can see where arc/sparks have been dropping down into the cabinet. Me things something is wrong?

Anybody know the part number (if it exists) for just a smart switch L-bracket? Marco just has the whole smart switch for $17. It would be very stupid if I need to buy the whole assembly just to fix a broken L-bracket!

Entering this club for the 3rd time. This one came to me in pieces though, and I am almost finished, with a lot of thanks due to this thread. Stumped on one thing though.....where does the bulb from the pup bumper tie into under the playfield? I have several system 3s, and they all seem to use a different strategy for wiring the pop bulbs. Can someone take a peak underneath their sf2 and help me out?
