I'm having a strange issue, I'm not sure if it's a feature of the game. After I let the ball drain, sometimes the ball doesn't get put in the plunger area unless I tap the flipper buttons several times. Is it some sort of a sensor issue?

Yes. Very likely dirty or mal-adjusted contacts in the trough. The vibration from the flippers moves the contacts just enough to register and then the computer tells the release coil (or whatever they called it on that game) to put a ball in the shooter lane.

I agree. A thought though: does this game use "smart switches?" If it does, you can't adjust those, but you can replace them with standard leaf or microswitches.
