Just placed my order for a Pro. Looking forward to watching the stream tonight but since this is going on location the theme alone is an instant buy for me.

Got ours this afternoon (in the office) and had to bounce for the day. Looks like I'll be going in on tomorrow's holiday to unbox that thing and start playing

Quoted from Kharris:

Just mapquested Abari it’s 5.5 hours away don’t want to travel that far. Does anyone know of anything in Va. maybe Richmond or fredriksburg?

Kharris I'm in Fredericksburg and we got one for a location we are opening late Spring. Feel free to msg me. If you're willing to drive up I'm happy to let you play it.

Quoted from delt31:

Owned the pro for about three days and I hit that shot 90% of the time assuming I can line it up properly.... And I'm not very good.
It's a machine by machine thing.

Yep, I'm a quite average pinball player and I've hit it more times than I've missed it. I was worried from what I had read from others but issues with that shot have not been present on ours.

BIG SHOUT-OUT!! to timmmmyboy for letting myself and a friend come and play stranger things for six hours lol. This is what our hobby is about, meeting new people, having and having a great time playing the game we love.
Can’t wait to do it again. And timmmmyboy if your ever planning a trip to NC let me know and you can flip my machines.

It was an absolute blast! Glad you made the trip and I'll absolutely shoot you a message the next time I'm headed that way.

This UV lighting that shows the UV art is amazing. And also changes the upside down to something awesome. Except that you have to pay another $279 for it. I already paid $9k for my LE. I'm actually really pissed about this...
Who wants to buy my LE?
[quoted image]

You expected all future mods for your game to be free?

#1511 3 years ago
Quoted from Trindawg:

When can we download the new code ?

They said at the beginning of the stream they believe it should be released this evening.

#1518 3 years ago
Quoted from jandrea95:

No, but I wouldn't consider granting the ability to visually see art that exists on the play field to be mod worthy

Pin Stadium seems to do ok with that type of market. If you don't like it don't buy it, easy decision. The "I bought an LE so I'm entitled" BS is childish. You got everything you paid for when it was advertised. The complaint is that you don't get future additions too? I can't wrap my head around that but to each their own. Happy Pro owner here and the kit was an instant purchase for me.

#1536 3 years ago
Quoted from Kharris:

Hey Tim. I don’t mind paying for mods but this was already in there from the factory. It should have came with the game. Also is your demigorgon shot still awesome? I can’t get mine to work even after hours of adjustments and tinkering. I have the game leveled with a high end digital level too!

Demo shot still easy on mine (I hit it 90% of the time), no clue why it is so different game to game but counting my luck for now. I guess for some they feel like the PF having a type of ink is enough to justify it "already being there", to me it feels like a cool addition I don't mind paying for much like a topper or any other lighting kit. It isn't cheap but neither is much of anything in this hobby.

Quoted from Kharris:

timmmmyboy is my gc still on the machine or have I been replaced?

Oh you're definitely still up there

#1689 3 years ago

My left outlane is very finicky as well. Having owned the Pro for a month and a half now and moved the pinball machine a few times when I started the ball would bounce off the E target (which juts out a bit) and drain SDTM. Now with the pitch turned up I'm hitting the left sling (better than drains I suppose). I do need to get a proper level that can measure the pitch of the machine and stop going by the bubble. I suspect that and perhaps waxing on the playfield (I haven't yet applied anything to the PF) may play a role in how fast and clean the ball comes out of the outlane.

#1924 3 years ago
Quoted from C0untDeM0net:

Mine hits the last two targets and the post if they are down as well. The other pro I've played does the same. Not sure what adjustment could be done to make it go into the burn back loop. Would love to know

Same here, I've heard folks mention it going to burn it back sometimes and I've never seen it, always drops the last two targets and hits post if nothing is there. Will play with power adjustment to see. I do like it as a safer way to clean up during the Upside Down and some of the other modes that require clearing drop targets.

#1981 3 years ago

Operator in town got their premium and unboxed it last night so I got to see the projector first hand and compare the shots and gameplay to my experiences with the Pro. The projector is fun but in this location it did look a bit washed out (brewery with large fluorescent worklights). The teased overlays in this thread I think could do wonders for it given the environment it's in. The magnet lock was super cool. Seemed to be more software bugs than I had ever noticed on mine, game restart at least once and twice the ball was stuck in the left kick out during a mode and ball search doesn't kick it out, only when the game entered upside down did it kick out on its own. But I think it was one code release prior so some of the bugs (especially the restart) I'm guessing might have been squashed. This pin *did* hit burn it back from the left kickout when 4th drop target is down, and otherwise only hit the 4th drop target when up. Really interesting given they were stock settings and mine absolutely hits the post every time.

Oh, and Demo shot was solid, nailed it almost every time as did most others there. The new scoring for Demo kills is wild, 15 million for a clean kill on first shot.

#1984 3 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

Just wait until you play the future Demo modes. Demo II is awesome scoring if you sir is for long enough and Demo III is 40 million plus for each clean kill. Crazy.

Is the third a multiball one as well? I've only gotten to the second one but may need to play a game where I try just with that in mind.

#2082 3 years ago

It's also worth noting Screen Innovations is not the only player in that space. This is coming up on 4 years old so a bit outdated but covers a large range of companies/products dealing with projection material that reduces the effect of ambient light https://www.projectorcentral.com/ambient-light-rejection-screens-2.htm. Some may be easier to source samples from than others.

Quoted from TomN:

Finally was able to play an LE in the wild (Logan Square) on Sunday. Really enjoyed it and thought the video on the screen, ramps and targets all looked great. Could not get one shot in the Demogorgon at all...After reading this thread a little I know why. Lol Thought the mag ball lock was cool. Also noticed that the demogorgon shook. Is that an LE feature? This one also had the UV light mod installed. Very nice looking feature. Probably be in for an LE/Premium with the UV mod vs the Pro on this particular table. I had the impression that this title was dunked on quite a bit. Not quite sure why? Had a lot of fun. May join the club soon.

Yeah the shaking Demogorgon is Premium and LE only. So odd how some seem to have the shot issue and others don't. Maybe it was a particular set of ramps built incorrectly. Hoping the best for those getting new ramps that that solves it. I wonder if it was an aftermarket UV light mod, did it activate during Upside Down mode? I didn't think Stern was shipping any of the kits until March but maybe Stern gave them one early.

#2177 3 years ago
Quoted from C0untDeM0net:

That's the actual stern one. I think the one being talked about is their alternative

Ah ok, I didn't think anyone else had started selling the alternative versions.

#2276 3 years ago

I like how the ramp is down in attract mode now. Small change but with the Demo lit it makes the playfield look much cooler (might only apply to Pro as I'm guessing projector displays other stuff in attract mode directly on the ramp?)

#2282 3 years ago

Hello UPS notification from Stern Pinball! Only one recent accessory for ST I ordered from them direct. Guess it won't be late March after all.

#2287 3 years ago
Quoted from Morhaus:

Wait, just got my notification too!!!

Yep mine was Pro as well. Is the code already ready for the kit or will we also need to wait for new code for it to work? Anyone know?

#2389 3 years ago
Quoted from bgwilly31:

did you change the option is setting to yes that UV kit is installed?

I'll second this since I just got mine installed today and somehow missed that at the top of the instruction sheet. I did think it was odd that ST option wasn't showing up in lamp diagnostic either.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

UV kit is sick. Just saw it in person.

It is so cool. And frankly after installing all the new plastics, apron, and board to get this all going I understand the price and think people would be foolish to go with a cheaper option (it's more than just throwing some lights on the playfield and calling it a day). We can argue whether Stern should have shipped this with the game from day 1, but I can't argue with the pricepoint of the kit. It's an awesome effect that adds a lot of fun to the game and I'm glad I picked it up.

#2392 3 years ago
Quoted from chuckwurt:

In the adjustments menu. Go to adjustments, ST adjustments, and it’s the first or second one.

I think it's under Features and not ST (working off memory since I've left the office), but yeah it's the very first one to enable.

Added cleland sound mod to the game after watching your stream chuckwurt and it is fantastic. Takes an already great sound package to the next level while still remaining true to the original sound design.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

The demo shot is borderline impossible on most games.

Both on my pro as well as the premium on location here in town if I cradle up I can hit it consistently (I'm an average player so it's probably one of the only things I'm consistent on in this game). But definitely enough reports that however that mech is built it is not consistent from pin to the next. Mine was a very early pro too so I can't even blame later improvements to the mech.

#13634 1 year ago

Having an odd issue where the drop target reset doesn't have the strength to push all 4 targets back up. I've taken it apart and checked the coil sleeve which looks ok, nothing on the mech seems broken, I can manually push each up as well as push the bracket for all 4 at the same time (it does resist pretty hard with all 4 targets down). If 1-3 targets are down it can reset it fine but the strength of all 4 is too much so it just keeps trying in a loop to pop them up quickly during a game. Could the coil itself be bad?

#13648 1 year ago
Quoted from GoldenOreos:

you need to take the drops apart and fully clean the assembly.

Ok will take another pass at everything, thanks!

#13707 1 year ago

I'm continuing to have an issue with the 4 bank drop targets not getting enough power to reset. I've taken the entire assembly apart to look for any issues and can't seen any. When pushing by hand it's very difficult with all 4 targets down to push up so I'm not surprised the coil can't get them all up either. Here are two slow motion videos, one of the full mech and the other of just the coil. I don't think replacing the coil is going to fix the issue because of how much tension there is already and wondering what else could be causing that tension. Anyone run into something similar?

#13709 1 year ago

One clue to me is there is a lot of play in the lift bracket and I can hear metal on metal as well as see wear here. Coil sleeve looks fine but sizing doesn't really look right as there is plenty of side to side movement from the plunger and lift bracket.

The gate at the mystery shot has been giving me hell, the ball manages to get caught there regularly sitting on the gate and against the left wall where it can't roll anymore without some heavy nudging. In an attempt to bend the wireform to sit a bit more flush I broke it. Guessing I need to get a wire jig to rebuild this or is there on available on Marco or Pinball Life? If I get the jig to build my own what gauge piano wire do I need to get?

#14507 11 months ago
Quoted from SonOfaDiddly:

not sure if you mean #11 or #12 but neither look to be in stock at marco or pinball life, unfortunately, nor does any advanced google-fu turn up anything using the part number

Yeah 11 is the one I'm looking at. 12 broke pretty soon after I got the machine but really doesn't affect gameplay. If I had a pair of calipers I could check the size of the gate as I still have the broken one but without it not sure what gauge I need to buy to repair.

#14510 11 months ago
Quoted from Jediturtle:

I would check with Stern, either direct or through your favorite distributor. Many times they will happily replace things like that, even if you are out of warranty. At least, they used to. Not sure what things are like their these days. Results may vary, but it's worth asking.

Good idea, I just hate relying on them since the wait time is usually measured in weeks/months and the game is on location.

Quoted from smokinhos:

Did you change balls? Premium or pro?

It's a pro, but what would new balls do to fix the situation? The gap between the gate and the wall seemed more like something had been bent out of place but now that the gate is broken I need to solve that first and foremost.

#14512 11 months ago

Saw that but no one mentions the gauge of the wire and just links to a preformed piece. I don't mind making my own with the jig but don't want to buy something too thick. I guess worst case I can go buy a set of digital calipers before I order the wire.

#14514 11 months ago
Quoted from SonOfaDiddly:

the 2nd post talked about hobby/craft shops selling the different gauges of wire, is what i was specifically hoping would be helpful. you might have to shop at retail though

Yeah I might try that route and just take the broken gate with me, use needle nose pliers to bend. The Marco site measures piano wire in 100s of an inch, an odd measurement, so not sure what size I would buy but the jig they sell for bending looks super useful longterm.
