The hidden Uv ink all over the game.
Quoted from f3honda4me:I'm thinking maybe to try and just DIY LED strips into the game maybe, and save myself $230-ish dollars. I know I won't have the fancy plastics etc but that doesn't bother me. If the game was really amazing, I'd drop the extra money for the kit. The code could get it there and maybe then I'd consider it. But this whole move has definitely made me think twice about future stern purchases and rather than buy every new stern release I'm going to be very picky instead.
It's integrated in the code so you'll likely need their kit.
UGH, went to power on my machine when I got home and it wouldn't come on. I flicked the power button on and I would hear 4 or 5 clicks and then nothing. Opened the coin door and got the keys for the backglass and when I turned it on once it was opened up it powered right on of course. I've never seen that with my other machine. Anyone know what those clicks might be? Hopefully it was just a glitch and not the sign of something dying
I bought the UV kit for my Pro, just because I'm a sucker I guess. What exactly did I buy? It sounds like a new apron with UV light and some replacement plastics?
Quoted from cleland:I bought the UV kit for my Pro, just because I'm a sucker I guess. What exactly did I buy? It sounds like a new apron with UV light and some replacement plastics?
and new additions lights.
Quoted from iloveplywood:I totally get why people would be angry to pay for the kit, but I have to say this game has amazing atmosphere, at least from what I can tell on streams.
It does have amazing atmosphere...I'm not entirely clear what this UV kit does; just different lighting for the upside down?
Quoted from NeilMcRae:and new additions lights.
Like UV spot lights on the sling or something? Am I right in saying they are including a whole new plastic apron?
Quoted from Trindawg:When can we download the new code ?
They said at the beginning of the stream they believe it should be released this evening.
have to say this looked fantastic and suspect will look even better in person...
I initially thought that this was a stretch to charge another 280bucks but then I think about how much I pay for lighted speakers and other mods and this is a piss in the ocean and no big deal.
Neil.
Quoted from cleland:Like UV spot lights on the sling or something? Am I right in saying they are including a whole new plastic apron?
Kit includes a new apron with lights, lights you attach to the ramps, a power board and cabling/screws. Premium/LE kit includes the metal apron.
EDIT: Forgot about the new plastics too.
Quoted from Pinballer31520:Secret cash grab
we have a secret. ya have to bend over though!!
Quoted from cleland:Like UV spot lights on the sling or something? Am I right in saying they are including a whole new plastic apron?
yup a new control board and a wiring harness.
Quoted from dsmoke1986:I just rewatched that youtube vid for the 5th time; so it's UV lighting that screws in on the side of the ramp and must feed to the GI underneath...Doesn't look like any extra plastics or apron.
I'm going to order it; I'm sure it will take this pin to the next level.
its a new apron. its new UV inked plastics. about 8 of them.
Quoted from jandrea95:No, but I wouldn't consider granting the ability to visually see art that exists on the play field to be mod worthy
Pin Stadium seems to do ok with that type of market. If you don't like it don't buy it, easy decision. The "I bought an LE so I'm entitled" BS is childish. You got everything you paid for when it was advertised. The complaint is that you don't get future additions too? I can't wrap my head around that but to each their own. Happy Pro owner here and the kit was an instant purchase for me.
Kit contains: New bottom arch w/ LEDs installed, 8 new butyrates, ramp LED boards mounted on install brackets, fasteners.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:Kit contains: New bottom arch w/ LEDs installed, 8 new butyrates, ramp LED boards mounted on install brackets, fasteners.
Damn, nice!!!
$280 does seem like a lot, then I remember how much I paid for the Tron mini arcade, the Tron lighted ramp kit, or my lighted sauron eye for LOTR, all awesome mods, and it doesn't feel so bad, especially given it includes an apron.
I do think though that LE owners should get this for free, or at least significantly discounted. Saying this as a non-LE owner. Personally I think LE's should come with all Stern accessories. For ones not available at launch, a gift certificate/code.
Quoted from C0untDeM0net:I've never seen that with my other machine. Anyone know what those clicks might be? Hopefully it was just a glitch and not the sign of something dying
FWIW, my GOTG did this. I just reseated all the connectors on the MPU and it came back on.
Quoted from cooked71:It's integrated in the code so you'll likely need their kit.
Does it come with some kind of new special node board? Or does it plug into existing plugs on existing boards? If the latter than it's totally doable DIY.
Quoted from Trindawg:When can we download the new code ?
Sterns website. It’s not live yet.
Quoted from f3honda4me:Does it come with some kind of new special node board? Or does it plug into existing plugs on existing boards? If the latter than it's totally doable DIY.
Separate power board.
Quoted from dri:FWIW, my GOTG did this. I just reseated all the connectors on the MPU and it came back on.
Thanks I'll go ahead and do that as a precaution
I’m planning on ordering the kit. Do I think it’s a little Steep? Kind of. But I’m also a sucker for this. I mean. It does seem like we’re getting a lot for the price. Maybe order it in a couple weeks.
Quoted from manadams:With all the issues people have had with this game it should have been under $100 or free.
Amen!

wern't you selling your game? have a change of heart?
Quoted from timmmmyboy:You expected all future mods for your game to be free?
Hey Tim. I don’t mind paying for mods but this was already in there from the factory. It should have came with the game. Also is your demigorgon shot still awesome? I can’t get mine to work even after hours of adjustments and tinkering. I have the game leveled with a high end digital level too!
Quoted from NeilMcRae:Kit contains: New bottom arch w/ LEDs installed, 8 new butyrates, ramp LED boards mounted on install brackets, fasteners.
Oh ok I thought it was just the lights. So you are getting a good amount of things in the kit.

Demo shot still easy on mine (I hit it 90% of the time), no clue why it is so different game to game but counting my luck for now. I guess for some they feel like the PF having a type of ink is enough to justify it "already being there", to me it feels like a cool addition I don't mind paying for much like a topper or any other lighting kit. It isn't cheap but neither is much of anything in this hobby.

I can see both sides of the coin. The kit does come with more then I first thought. I guess I’m just frustrated that my start button was broke, my cabinet speaker didn’t work, one of my light sockets has to be replaced, and my demigorgon shot doesn’t work as advertised. Stern has been great about getting me the parts needed to fix my game. But this should not have come to me like this.

Sorry I'm late to respond to this (after all the UV stuff, which I think is really cool). Yeah...I did adjust it individually. But what I'm saying is even when I have all the green blocks lined up, when I play a game, the animated arrows and Jackpot up the ramps aren't aligned properly (nor are the billboards aligned properly). Only the targets are good. It's a pain in the ass.
Quoted from twenty84:Got my game today and installed my first mod.[quoted image]
That thing is sweet! I'm waiting for the light-up (overpriced) one that Stern is putting out. $125, anyone?
Quoted from beelzeboob:Sorry I'm late to respond to this (after all the UV stuff, which I think is really cool). Yeah...I did adjust it individually. Okay. The only one I noticed doing that was the right ramp. Everything else seemed to line up right. Maybe the new code cleans that up.
Did they fix that nasty Burn It Back/Multiball bug? I was having my first great game last night (at 130 million and counting) and the damn game rebooted on me.
Quoted from KJS:no new call outs on the new code??
You tell us. Have you installed it? I won’t have time to check this out until later tonight. Readme file is never all inclusive.
Quoted from beelzeboob:Did they fix that nasty Burn It Back/Multiball bug? I was having my first great game last night (at 130 million and counting) and the damn game rebooted on me.
Don’t seem mention of those bugs in the readme, but could’ve been fixed. Only one way to find out!
Code is still only 0.84. Not sure how they run these numbers, but it does mean a LONG way to go still. Ordered my UV kit. I'm either a sucker or get the MOD market. Or both. but I'm happy as hell with my game. No issues AT ALL for me. Pro version BTW.
Quoted from Rockytop:Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't mind paying for it. I don't care...I'm just happy there's something cool I didn't know about. It's probably an idea Brian had that they couldn't work into the BOM. I'm glad they didn't just abandon it.
People spend way more than $280 on mods all the time.
Same here. I always see complaints about stripped out features or lack of callouts, music, movie clips, etc saying they would be willing to pay extra if they made them available. Sure, as an LE owner, I would have been pumped to get this for free, but for me, this is still a must have seeing how much this adds to the special effects of the upside down.
