by my criteria Olympic gymnasts are competing in games, not sports. I'm not gonna argue that with Simone Biles though, lol

hell if it's a home game and you never plan to play in tourneys- you should, it's an amazingly fun community- knock yourself out. I always just feel like I'm putting unnecessary wear on the game if I reset. ( I haven't even told my family it's possible to do, shhhh )

play count doesn't mean a thing to me. Condition is king. I've never understood this obsession with keeping the games low play counts. I bought them to play.

Everything is factory settings except I changed the extra balls from the factory 5 to 2. No I don’t time out the modes. There was 2 extra balls on my way to final showdown.
That particular game I got 4.5 billion. Tilt is not ridiculously tight nor is it overly loose.
I’ve only had the game since Tuesday so still have a lot to learn. Just had 2 really lucky games. One I got to final showdown and bombed out on level 4. The other I got through it.

I’ll tell you what cured me of game restarting. I had several games where balls 1 and 2 were shit, and I put up a monster ball 3 (sometimes with an extra ball assist). It’s like playing music in public: if you screw up, don’t say “that was bad, I’ll start over”. Instead, play the best damned solo you ever did.

I often find when I have an amazing game that most of the work is done on 1 ball (maybe earning an extra or 2 with it) - so if you lose balls 1 and 2 quickly who’s to say ball 3 isn’t going to be the one

That is a very poor tournament strategy.

You play in a one time match against the other players who each pick a strategy and may or may not be successful. You are constantly evaluating your strategy / risk / reward / wizard mode/ vs a safe solid score.

Player one may save their 'bomb' + multiball start + mode start + playfield multiplier + shot multiplier, and focus on just getting everything lit without starting them, just to get things set for huge jackpots and "do the thing", and end up draining out with a miserable score.

Player two may go straight to start a multiball for example without stacking anyting just so they can use the ball saver to rip some spinners and put up some decent points to avoid getting last in the 4some.

Player three sees this a says uhh boy.. I got one guy who is trying to "shoot the moon" but might fail, and I got one guy who is going for the low hanging fruit and putting up decent points.... WHAT DO I DO??

Trust me, you have to survive a lot of matches to reach the finals in a pinball tournament and often it's not huge scores that get you there, but instead it requires playing smart and not finishing last in any of your rounds.

A simple Stranger Things example - I avoid the upside-down mode drop targets due to risk of draining in tournament play, but if I only need 7 million points to catch the leader, blast those drop targets and turn around and tell the other player 'good game pal'.

it's semantics. i cannot affect what you do with the ball directly. you cannot affect what i do with the ball directly. we are playing against the machine, not against each other. i can't steal the ball away from you or strategically occupy space so that you can't (chuck's exceptions aside). i can't intercept a pass you make to a teammate or throw a 90 mile an hour curve ball to strike you out.

i'm quite aware of what it takes to get to the finals of a pinball tournament, my IFPA number is 72104 it's 100% mental. if you're thinking about what the other guy is doing, you are doing it 100% wrong. there is almost always 1 best tournament strategy for a game or at the least you should know YOUR best strategy for a game. if i shoot the drops because i feel confident that i can get the ball back after, that shouldn't affect if you do or not.

also wait. did you just say that scoring the most points...isn't a good tournament strategy? uh okay ill try that next time

i mean

if you watch streams and read rule sheets and play at the same places fairly regularly, you start to learn that for example at your weekly wednesday league you just can't fucking hit move your car to save your life and you know the other three guys in your group can and so you have to revert to trying to start multiball or maybe unlimited millions, even though it's not the ideal strategy because its the safe one, i get that for sure.

that's not the other guys, though, that's me. but i do still think it's a good idea to at least have a basic strategy for every single game you step up to, otherwise you're just flailing. mars- try to knock down a saucer every ball. STh- try to get to Trap 'Em. future spa, try to light the spinners. monster bash, try to take a mode into frank. Godzilla, ramp ramp scoop. simpsons- shoot the garage. globetrotters- shoot the drops. mando- shoot the middle. spiderman, start black suit multi. deadpool, try to start dazzler MB. hoops- hit the skillie and lock a ball to start MB. JP- chaos or paddocks. addams- multi and modes. dracula- bats and rats. dolly parton- drops and spinner.

those are basic strats for the games at league, you should try to have something in mind like that for every comp game you step to imho. usually very different than what i'd do "for fun" which is try to wizard the games.

An umpire in baseball calling balls and strikes is doing so subjectively. A referee in basketball calling fouls is subjectively judging whether or not enough contact was made to impede a player's shot attempt. American football games would last eight hours if holding calls weren't subjective and being judged as to whether or not yet another flag needs to be thrown for an infraction that technically occurs on every play. A referee in a UFC/boxing match can decide to stop a fight based on whether he determines one of the combatants is no longer fit to continue.

I was more referring to things like half pipe snowboarding or ice dancing which have subjective "style" elements

I just picked up a HUO Pro and wanted to know what the factory settings are for the outlanes? Mine are wide open making it extremely challenging with too many outlane drains.

Would appreciate any insight on what the factory settings are for the outlane posts position.

That's how mine are, assumed that way from factory.

factory settings according to chuck according to eddy are the middle, though some games (mine included) shipped wide open. be prepared, it's not a buttery smooth switch

and you'll still get plenty of outlane drains but at least it will feel fair

My friend's Pro shipped this way as well but I move all my games to the middle.
