Specifically, he references putting something from Death Magnetic in coffin multiball mode--like My Apocalypse or All Nightmare Long, plus the possibility of of a fan-voted song being added.

I'm guessing new songs are a possibility due to Metallica being really into this game. I bet there's more of a "hey if it'll make the game cooler, go for it" mentality than a "call the lawyers and agents" mentality.

I hope that is true. But the podcast said that Borg hadn't talked with the band directly. That was a bit of a downer... But I'm hopeful this power pack makes the game even more awesome!

My Apocalypse is a great song, that would be a good choice if that's true.
I second the backing of either Four Horsemen or Sanitarium if they want to stay with classic stuff though.

Wait... does Song choice even do anything? I thought it was just like putting my headphones on while I play. I have been fairly disappointed with how songs are almost pointless to the game.
IMO "Fight Fire With Fire" is the best possible Metallica song for pinball, and it is missing.
Next up are "Metal Militia" followed by "Whiplash".
From Death Magnetic, "That Was Just Your Life" would be my choice though it takes a bit to get started.

AC/DC is great - but every pinball machine that's ever had music has specific music that plays during specific events. Metallica is no different - except you can pick your "neutral" non-mode music....which is a nice touch that most other games lack.
I actually like the current coffin multiball. I think more songs would be great but I wouldn't mess with coffin.
Maybe instead add MORE MODES PLZ!!!

basically with metallica, it just what you want for background noise.
I like that I can hear any Metallica song I want regardless of play strategy. And that the songs change during multiball.
If you have a preferred strategy for AC/DC, you hear the same song for a good chunk of each game (or the entire game, if you suck like I do). Also, multiball feels less like an event since the same song just keeps playing. To me that's the biggest drawback of how they implemented the music in AC/DC.
