Never good to be the victim of theft! Many peripheral details left out of the story. I reread the original post, nothing about garage door just being left open, I would imagine the too trusting comment led to that speculation. None the less, theft is a bad, but common practice. I would like more specifics. I will aid the recovery in any capacity that is within my reach.

Quoted from rx3:

In my state, they have become very lax on punishing thieves. They consider it a "property crime" only. Extremely ignorant voters agreed and voted more leniency for thieves. I guarantee these voters change their opinions once they become a victim, but unfortunately, they are too ignorant to think ahead of the ramifications when voting.
Thieves are literally walking into stores, nonchalantly grabbing as much as they can carry and walk out without paying. Unchallenged by anyone. Security guards and employees just watch them. In San Francisco, Walgreens and Target stores have had to permanently shut down their stores.
If police catch you, they cannot incarcerate you unless it's over $950 dollars. Even then, police will be criticized for incarcerating a theft suspect. If the thief is a juvenile, no matter the dollar amount, you cannot incarcerate them. If you try to book them into juvenile hall, they won't even accept them.
Some politicians, even consider this leniency "reperations" for how the thieves have been "wronged" in the past. Absolutely disgusting and comical at the same time.

If I would have made that comment, I would have been moderated, and I couldn't agree with you more!
