You shouldn’t have to worry about this…

But…this is reality…

If you keep your garage door open for extended periods of time there’s usually people going around looking in garages as they drive by. All you need is to have it open for 5 minutes and the wrong person drives by. As others say they probably knew it was there and came prepared. Other crimes of “opportunities” is for cash drugs etc.

Quoted from volkdrive:

clamp a pair of vice grips in door track.

Better yet….

Quoted from ultimategameroom:

ALWAYS! Unplug your door operator if you use this method of security

Why? These are hooked up to the door. How could anything get damaged? If one of these fails to unlatch the system will detect it and cease to open.

Quoted from ultimategameroom:

Manual slide bolts, vice grips ,large screwdrivers, Etc.
Not the Automatic version that you have.

Ah gotcha. Yeah definitely only do this if everyone on the same page. Just like you my friend actually installed my system who fixes doors for a living too and back order the same issue. Springs especially.

He joked about me ordering upgraded panels with better R value this fall for the winter and he said they’d arrive just in time for spring!

Quoted from Sundog:

The seller had the ID number, I’m kicking myself for not documenting the game. I didn’t take down the serial number. Pretty upset with myself .

Do you have any pics of the carton or when you got the game first set up? It’s possible you incidentally photographed the SN

Quoted from AFM95:

Not surprising at all. This is one of the most common ways thieves break in houses around our neighborhoods.
Unlocked car door leads to garage door opener, unlocked service door in the attached garage to the house. Crimes of opportunity.

Another thing people do around here is look for opened garage doors during the day and hit the program button and add their own opener to the registry. Come back at their convenience with easy access to garage.

Quoted from Monte:

Do you think one could use something like a Apple Air Tag hidden inside a game to get a general location if they are stolen?

Yes. They should work as long as they aren’t around too much metal which shields the signal if you want better odds of it picking up more nearby devices.

Otherwise your best odds are, ironically the suspects phone

Quoted from Trekkie1978:

Have you seen today's adolescents?
They are way too lazy to move a pinball machine.

They (Kia Boys) are too busy stealing cars.

I actually googled them and as of today stealing cars is now a TikTok challenge.

From the looks of it much easier to steal than a pinball. Hopefully TikTok doesn’t trend pinball theft as that’d be a much further challenge.

Quoted from embryonjohn:

There’s never been a generation this fat, unskilled, unathletic, bad postured & batshit crazy.
I’ve tried hiring dozens of them, all they wanna do is look at their phone.
This is truly a real break from past generations.
Ask them to read a tape measure if you wanna laugh.

There’s a great thread going on in the OT about this now

Quoted from Trekkie1978:

I may have missed how they thieves got into the garage. Here’s what I did to mine.
1 - cut the handle off the garage release.
2 - camera. Granted the camera won’t stop them, but now I have visual evidence (note: outside of my house has cameras too).
[quoted image][quoted image]

Cutting the handle does nothing. From the outside you just need to sneak one of these through the top gap of the door and press on the bracket that entire cord attaches to.

Quoted from AFM95:

You must know from experience.

Fortunately no, but my friend who fixed doors for a living (also a pinhead) was telling me about it who sold me those track locks.
