Hey, I just wanted to give an update on my stolen Deadpool machine and I saw the original thread is closed.
After the game was stolen I contacted all the pawnshops in the area and also the detective working on the case did the same. One pawnshop I stopped into a couple weeks ago and spoke with the owner turned out we had a mutual friend one who was a Pinball enthusiast I told him my story showed him pictures of the missing items and he said that he would look out for anything that comes in.
Last Friday the thief contacted that guy and offered to sell him my stolen machine he sent him a picture identified it as my game and then we sent that picture to the police the police knew exactly where it was and who this guy was turns out he was a career criminal who’s been to federal prison before has been arrested numerous time.
We set it up with the owner of the shop for him to buy my game back so that way we can get his information as well and then the police can go ahead and do what they need to do to arrest the thief. he brought the game in over the weekend and sold it to the shop then the police went to the shop found the report Monday and then yesterday I had a friend of mine pick it up for me because I was still at work and couldn’t leave so right now the game has been recovered it’s at my friends house and I plan on getting it here soon

I still have some stuff to work out with the insurance company because they don’t know what to do and they said normally this doesn’t happen that stolen items are recovered like this so we’re still working through that side of things there is very little to no damage and the game plays good I am told so hopefully I will have the game back this weekend for my birthday so I can drink some beers play some Deadpool and drink some more beers.
There’s two different cities working on arresting this piece of shit that stole the game but they have to be per cautious about it I am told so hopefully this guy is arrested soon I highly doubt he’ll see this form because he doesn’t get into Pinball you could tell by the way he went about having this game and what he sold it for which is laughable

9K grand theft, been to prison already, dumb enough to try and pawn it locally. Yup he's done for.

    Congratulations on the happy resolution!

Crazy, so the pawnshop gave him money?
Who pays for this and why not arrest him onsite and then not pay him or recover funds?

Hafta agree for the TMNT they did a sting on site and it wasn't even the same ppl that sold it! I got a feeling this guy's going down for something bigger and they didn't want this to muck that up. So glad you had that REGENERATION lit!!

Fantastic news. So cool when things work out this way. If the police were involved and knew the perp, any particular reason they didn't wait outside at the sale time to arrest him right away? I suppose it doesn't matter if they're confident they can track him down after the fact. It just seems like it would save time and steps to catch him red handed.

Just something the shop, the police and me agreed to in order to get the game back then they have the thief information to go after him . I don’t think the shop wanted a big fiasco there , this guy had friends and one might retaliate…

Yeah, they had their reasons, there are two police departments after this guy so the other department is going to search his place. The shop didn’t want to be a target. I think this thief has friends that live on my street actually. Hopefully we can bust them all.

You might want to consider leaving it at your buddies, or being very discreet about getting it back in the house for the time being. Whoever tipped him off to swipe it in the first place probably shouldn't know you have it back until he's dealt with. Could get messy.

'grats though, nice to see thinga work out.

    #36 1 year ago

    Congrats!

But one thing I'm wondering about is...how did the crook find out you had a pin in the garage in the first place? Was the pin visible when the garage doors were open? Via the crook's buddies that might live nearby and spotted the pin?

Not a bad idea, but remember AirTags are to help find misplaced items and it might not work since it is designed to prevent folks from using it to track people without their permission.

    Quote-
If someone else's AirTag finds its way into your stuff, your iPhone will notice it's traveling with you and send you an alert. After a while, if you still haven't found it, the AirTag will start playing a sound to let you know it's there.

AirTag lets you easily track things like your keys, wallet, purse, backpack, luggage, and more. Simply set it up with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and attach it to your item, and your AirTag shows up in the Items tab in the Find My app.

    Just use a Tile instead?

I threw my tiles out due to them being so unreliable even with new batteries. Had the wallet one too. Could stand right next to them and they wouldn’t even beep even with resetting Bluetooth on my phone. Apple tags much better.

As long as his pinball and its phone don’t travel together frequently he should be fine.

Uhhmm, question, when your friend fetched the game did he pay the pawn shop that amount?
Or is the pawnshop in the hole for that amount?

    And ...
Congrats on your persistance and obtaining the game back. Well done!

Thieves are not noted for being members of Mensa.

Unless he has done this many times before and judged it low risk.

Happy you got your game back, thats awesome news! Hopefully justice is served to the thief at some point too, but I'm mostly happy you got your game back!

    #46 1 year ago

    #47 1 year ago

    #48 1 year ago

I guess when they raid his house or whatever you get back your other items?

I remember a custom sign and I think it was a gumball machine the dude also grabbed?

Yeah, custom arcade sign , a bicycle and a vintage gumball machine , it would be great to get those back, hope they raid his place soon.
If they do , I don’t know if they will tell me.
