DKNG just hit an all time high.

I am huge believer in DKNG. Once gambling is legalized in all states look out.

Quoted from Oaken:

April 16 call at $35 strike price.
Sweep is a large institution buying/selling across several smaller orders
91 contracts traded at a cost of $3.00 per ($3.00 x 100 = $300. $300 x 91 = $27,300)
29423 Open Interest in that particular strike. (That’s how many orders outstanding for that strike)
$29.09 is the underlying stock price quote

So this means Palantir is looking good right?

Quoted from TRAMD:

I sold mine at 67.03 and bought more ATVI and NTDOY. My HODL strategy lasted all of one day.

It’s because you spelled “HOLD” wrong

I am a fan of Activision, not so much of Nintendo. Good luck with those.

who knows, it doesn't trade on fundamentals ...

Nobody knows, just looking for opinions. Well sort of, just added more on the open...

I'm waiting for Corsair to bottom out. I really like their fundamentals, but there is a lot of bears thinking their sales revenue will drop like a rock as people start to get back outside.

But I think there will still be plenty of gamers who will stay inside.

I am up almost 3% overall today. It is crazy how I keep expecting a big drop and it just doesn't happen. I really think what we saw in February (and has continued to a degree since) is a large influx of new money from new investors that represents a new baseline rather than a bubble. This pandemic has people thinking more about their future and I know so many people that started investing more in the past couple of months. I really think the Gamestop story made a lot of people aware of how easy it is to invest; along with more free time and more money due to stimulus checks and less spending of "going out"/entertainment money.

I doubt gambling will be legalized in all states, many states have signed deals giving native tribes exclusive gambling rights over the past couple decades, native casinos have become a big builder for jobs and income for the tribes and those states via taxes, there would have to be a big financial incentive to legalize gambling nationally and somehow compensate those tribes for the massive loss in income.

Also bonds are paying very little that’s driving money into stocks as well.

Actually long term yields are spiking pulling money from the market - that's what happened the last few days. Until the fed starts buying to lower the rates it's going to be choppy especially for the frothy stocks that have zoomed up...

"Little", but they briefly surpassed the S&P 500 dividend rate last week. That's what spooked a lot of investors. When bonds start paying more than stocks again, there's an alternative for investors.

I disagree, the states need money. Way to get money is legalize gambling. It is just a matter of time. The amount from native casinos is nothing compared to the massive amounts of tax revenue that can be generated. Look at New Jersey as an example.

Same with cannabis.

Quoted from Lounge:

Plus the savings from clearing out prisons of trivial convictions. Of course private prison corporations and prison guard unions heavily lobby against legalization efforts because it would remove so many low-risk prisoners to manage.

#10522 51 days ago

Pot has had a lot less of a struggle against it's legalization than gambling has. It's not very political and there isn't much big money campaigning against it. I live in a very liberal state that was one of the first to legalize pot, we've gone the opposite way with gambling, strictly prohibiting online poker because it competes with the Native casinos.

#10523 51 days ago

In bugs me to no end how backwards my state of Tennessee is with cannabis. I remember reading DEA reports for years that would report Tennessee as one of the largest outdoor growing states by their metrics (at least before some starts started to loosen up). It's perfect growing weather and a great cash crop. But CoreCivic (aka CCA before the name was too toxic) is among those fighting it tooth and nail

We had an easier time getting a lottery despite being the belt buckle of the bible belt. Arkansas and even Mississippi are further along

#10524 51 days ago

states are slowing getting on the cannabis bandwagon - too difficult to resist the tax revenue

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/02/27/virginia-legalizes-marijuana-471840
just no clue why VA is putting it off until 2024

Not surprising that a private for profit prison company wouldn't want to legalize pot, as terrible as it sounds, having less prisoners would cut into their profits. I'd bet legalization happened a lot easier in states that don't have privately run prisons.

It's not just that many of our prisons are privately ran, it's that the biggest private prison corporation in America is headquarter in our state capital.

There were a lot of interesting articles about the private prison and prison guard unions lobbying against California's legalization.

I’ll be looking hard at some pot stocks a few weeks before 4/20, might be a good opportunity if redditors put their money there for 4:20.

High dividend stocks have been doing really well lately: LTC, BXMT, EPD, GAIN. Any other strong dividend stocks I should look at?

In addition to EPD I keep money in QYLD since I like the monthly dividend payments.

Is the dividend consistent in the QYLD? That's a hell of a dividend payment.

I sold my one pot stock, HITIF, right before close today up 15% since purchase. Earnings statement tomorrow, that always seems to drop the stock price even if it's good. I plan to pick it up again if it has a significant drop, I like the company.

Some from Canada: TF, CM, BCE, ALA. They seem to have decent P/E ratios and typically are profitable. I think ALA cut its dividend when oil fell and it was struggling. But seems to be back to being profitable again.

Been in CGC since $6. APHA and HEXO are my other two cannabis plays. Fed decriminalization is a priority for this administration and I think we’ll see that this year. It’s going to be a big sector once that happens.

Rocket (RKT) is up above 28 with huge volume.

#10548 50 days ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Rocket (RKT) is up above 28 with huge volume.

*** QUOTE FROM WSB - NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE ***

So $RKT CEO Jay Farner fuckin hates shorts almost as much as we do, and im going to outline what this absolute CHAD has planned for them.
His company RKT mortgage literally smashes every ER by a country mile and hes tired of his stock being held down by these spineless cowards. Farner is actively going to war with them Elon style.
Let me outline how this mega-autist CEO is going to force the shorts to squeeze themselves by 3/9.
Farner, along with company founder Dan Gilbert, and the leadership team own 95% of Rocket Companies.
Theres currently 113m shares outstanding
38% of those shares are short
CEO/Founder own 95% of the 2B float ( note this for later )
So a quick math lesson tells us:
38% of 115m = ~ 43 mm shares short
NOW THE FUN PART
In their most recent investor meeting team $RKT rolled up to the shorts door like the dancing pallbearers and introduced a $1.11/share SPECIAL DIVIDEND to be paid to anyone holding RKT stock by 3/9.
So.. what does this mean for shorts? Weve arrived at the BDE moment..
SHORTS HAVE TO PAY THE DIVIDEND
Shorts have to pay $1.11 for every share they are short on 3/9
BUYBACK PROGRAM
What else was in that juicy investor conference? Wait for it…
$1 BILLION DOLLAR BUYBACK PROGRAM
See, RKT makes so much fucking money they can afford not only a special divi, but a $1B share buyback. Im telling you this man is going into the trenches and clearing the shorts out by his fucking self.
TLDR:
$RKT has been suppressed for way too fuckin long, the company owns 95% of the shares and Jay Farner/Dan Gilbert hate shorts and they have diamond fuckin nuts, they aint sellin. Shorts have to cover their 43mm shares or they are forced to pay $1.11/share they are short on 3/9.
Also, if you can’t do math. If u buy shares and hold thru 3/9.. it’s an instant 5% return via the special dividend.

Basically the company is working with investors to force a short squeeze.

#10549 50 days ago
Quoted from Lounge:

Basically the company is working with investors to force a short squeeze.

The interest rate also dropped after having risen for a while.

It seems the stock is going to need to stay elevated through 3/9 for the special dividend to cause more pain for the shorts.

I don’t think the special dividend is price dependent.
