End of day today is a big expiration

Quoted from KornFreak28:

Ok so at what time do all this calls expire? Is there a specific time of the day we should watch out for?

End of market today for the original toxic ones.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Elon Musk changed his twitter bio to #Bitcoin and now it’s skyrocketing again.
This is why my “HODL memes” are always accurate and you should all be holding bitcoin
It’s the longest game but it always comes around.

I think I'm a reasonably intelligent guy and I understand blockchain tech, but for the life of me I don't understand all the mechanisms of trading BTC...coin base, cold wallets, dead wallets, exchanges, etc...i have never grasped the intricacies.

Shorts don't expire, they just have to pay boat loads of interest to keep them going. Lots of calls expiring ITM today though. They can be exercised at any time. Those calls are going to have to be filled, hence the gamma squeeze. Gamma squeeze isn't a short squeeze. I'm expecting a big artificial dip at open...as has happened all week.

#8308 3 years ago

OHHHH I'm so reaady for the thunder dome to strat.

RH is blocking buyers if you have under 5 shares of GME to 0-5 share purchases, if you already own over 5 you can't buy more. F this crap. Oh and only full shares of all, no fractional buys.

Yep buy the dip. Im watching AMC on open too. It still has alot of short positions open...just concerned they keep converting debt to shares.

In regards to interest, I read shorts on GME were as high as 80% interest...there is so much pressure to drive GME down today. What will be the next stunt pulled.

Should be a fun day. Good luck to everyone.

#8311 3 years ago

Fidelity locked my positions. Good luck to all. looks like a repeat of yesterday.

AMC jumps on all the saved market orders at bell, but now dipping.

Quoted from robertmee:

Halted already.

#8314 3 years ago

And now AMC halted...lol

And I'm not laughing at anyone buying/selling. Laughing at the absurdity of what the market is trying to do.

NOK trying desperately to bust through $5.

Yeah I bought 1000 this morning.

So if there's a bunch of calls that have to close out today by end of day on GME, wouldn't that be a good indication to get in today for a quick profit?

Quoted from f3honda4me:

In a normal world yes...but GME is already inflated so who knows. The short holders could choose to extend their positions by paying interest.

And the way the market has been behaving, there's a chance of suspending trading if it gets out of hand.

#8319 3 years ago
Quoted from robertmee:

Yeah I bought 1000 this morning.

Nice. I need it to break $6 to break even. Bought at the wrong time. Story of my life.

The rest of the market is down. It's going to be a crappy morning, but I feel things will pick up this afternoon. At least gold is up.

Coinbase is an exchange for people because it’s difficult for the average person to directly link with miners and coin-HODLers.

Bitcoin is like trading objects at a swap meet. You can’t do it unless you’re connecting directly person to person physically.

Coinbase is an exchange, like an online marketplace so buyers and sellers can be easily linked up.

Cold wallets are not “wired” online. It’s like taking your money out of the bank and keeping your cash in your own hands. You can go anywhere and directly give them your cash or use it how you see fit, just like cold, hard cash.

Hot wallets are like storing your money in the bank, but the bank isn’t insured so if the money is stolen, it’s gone. You don’t physically possess your cash, the bank does. Same concept with a hot wallet. You don’t have access to your bitcoin directly, the online wallet does.

#8321 3 years ago

Also as far as my brokerage, you can only do covered options on these stocks...and you have to call them to initiate or close them. I imagine i would have better luck calling the dmv.

Thanks, sorry I have not really ever gotten much into investments/trading until last year so I'm still learning a lot.

Soooo much Gamestop news. I guess the media outlets were just tired of reporting on COVID. I can't say I blame them.

#8324 3 years ago

The funny stuff is some media and "industry experts" trying to school principal this shit.

Saying things like we need to put "restrictions in place" to teach these poor children about proper investing and to protect them from themselves blah blah.

Its like the principal in high school telling you "this will go on your permanent record".

These kids know exactly what they are doing and why.....

I bought 2 shares of GME for $330. I was following since around $60 and thought it was too high then... It may go to zero but I want to be a part of the pain for the hedge funds!

#8327 3 years ago

Robinhood is limiting a total share in your portfolio to 115 shares of AMC and 110 shares of NOK. I'm sure there are limits to all of the other stocks people were buying the past few days. I currently have 150 shares of AMC and cannot add to that position. I sold my NOK and wanted to see if they would let me buy back in and it was a limit of 110 shares. With these restrictions still in place, I believe it will be more difficult to move the price. Much like yesterday. Good luck all.

How dare you kids manipulate the markets... thats our job.

Bunch of scumbags.

Sold my MAC shares for a nice profit! I'll buy back in around 14. Stock seems to be in free fall !

Well it won't go to zero unless GameStop goes out of business. But to your point, money goes nowhere unless traded. For every sell, there has to be a buy. So money is just going from one trader to another. If the price drops very low, then many shares will just stay in broker accounts.

That is not good! What securities did they block? Selling? Buying?

#8336 3 years ago

Anyone struggling to buy Doge on Robinhood as well?

#8337 3 years ago

I bought 5 shares of GME this morning @ 374 pre market open. I am rather sure it will climb back up, just as it has this whole week. I feel it will dip heavily like it did yesterday. if it does I may jump in with more shares. But Stranger things have happened. LOL

#8338 3 years ago
Quoted from Pin-Pilot:

I'm back online. Blocked all my positions on market open for about 15min. They did this to me yesterday also. Said they were having temporary difficulties. Yeah right!

#8339 3 years ago

I broke my rule and bought 1,000 shares of AMC A) to recoup some of my losses on a trade yesterday and B) Fuck all of these fucks that are trying to restrict trades. For you speculative types, I bought Golden Nugget (GNOG) to hold for a while. This is what my LCA call this summer became. I know a few of you traded LCA this summer but I think it flew under most of your radars. Big fan of Tilman Fertita.

Broker and I had a good call this morning and we are converting my non core positions to some managed programs that they are doing. Not going to the extent of investingdad because there are some core positions that we like and I love gunslinging, but this is where a lot of where my guy is converting his clients to. The past few days have highlighted some deficiencies and issues in the system so this is just recalibration.

Again, not investing advice. If you need bourbon advice, I can help you there (Hint: Dont fall for the Buffalo Trace family of product bullshit. Overhyped and over priced. Honestly, we should all just drink good Tequila).

Can't even get logged into Ally Invest (Formerly TradeKing). So again, watching from the sidelines.

Yes those that sell before it goes to zero win. Including insiders and their family trusts.

Can I just come to our house, sit in the corner of your office and learn about this trading stuff?

I'm literally terrible at it.

Interesting. I've never dabbled in the more expensive versions, but I've always enjoyed the base Buffalo Trace. I would take a recommend for something in the $40ish range.

Still holding my 12 shares of GME at $65. Feeling pretty good about it!

If you can do what you're doing with investing, it's a piece of cake.

Exchange = Broker (TD Ameritrade, eTrade, etc)

As for the wallets, you have to remember that all you're storing is a public / private key pair. Just a really long set of alphanumeric characters. The private one is what signs any transactions when you move your crypto.

Where you store your public / private key pair is what determines the wallet type. That's what you guard with your life. Just like the password to your bank account.

A hot wallet is one that's immediately accessibility and has online connectivity to it. So if you have 1 BTC sitting on Coinbase, they control your private key. The crypto is immediately available to you to trade, move, sell, etc.

A cold wallet is when you store your private key offline. It's not immediately accessible and has no online connectivity, but it can't be hacked.

I keep what I want to use / trade / sell in a hot wallet (Coinbase) so I can sell if I want. The bulk of my currency is on my Trezor at my house, locked up in a safe. You can't hack it, but if I wanted to liquidate the majority of my holdings, I'd need to drive home, move the crypto from my Trezor to an exchange and then sell.

Hopefully that helps!

This is what I use as a hardware wallet.
