Quoted from iceman44:

I'm mean i'll take that 8.7% dividend yield all day long and then sell covered calls

Amen

#7952 3 years ago
Quoted from Lamberger:

Made a quick $82k. I think the big guys dumped tons of money in all of these stocks yesterday and crashed everything on purpose today.. Pretty wild.

Congrats.

I'm hoping one day to be able to say something like that, but not at the rate I'm going.

#7953 3 years ago
Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

This should be illegal.
[quoted image]

Quoted from Zablon:

This isn't about protecting 'us'. This is about protecting the rich.
If one of 'us' were in the position they are in, they'd say 'boohoo' you should learn to invest. See, those guys get bailouts. We don't. I wasn't in this, but I completely understand the reasoning behind it.

Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

On GME... I think some of the platforms are restricting the ability to buy more shares because they are concerned they may not be able to pay out all the money owed on the shares.

Quoted from Friengineer:

Robinhoods dead. Mass Exodus after this. Restricting stock buying lol. GG.

Quoted from Gumby510:

Ya screw then they canceled my Gme and my Nokia buy from last night. Wasn’t even a large amount either like 40$ I’m new to all this but it’s quite eye opening to see the open corruption.

Quoted from Methos:

It's going up and up and with RH, we're on the outside looking in. BS.

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

I'm with you. Even if I lose the $3k I have tied up in GME and AMC, it's worth it to shine a light on this stuff. I had no idea it was so corrupted. Makes me scared for my 401K.

As I mentioned earlier:

There's still an opportunity on AMC....I've noticed on all the halting there's a dip after resuming, followed by a quick runup. I'm buying 10,000 shares on each dip then selling them on $1 gain, or $10K. Working so far. Very risky and pure gambling so don't recommend this for anyone.

#7955 3 years ago

This isn't the SEC. This is Citadel protecting Citadel, who Robinhood and others are tied to.

until it doesn't ... good luck

Quoted from BMore-Pinball:

Absolutely, why I don't recommend it. But worse case, I'll just be in the position of holding until normal increases resume. The $6 to $8 range it's fluctuating in is the sweet spot. Once it trends out of that, it's no longer a play.

#7958 3 years ago
Quoted from TKDalumni:

They can sell 44m shares at the drop of a hat?? Doesn’t take time and paperwork to do that...

Probably Treasury Stock.

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

Maybe I'll go check out the GIF annex or perhaps the cats and pinball thread.

I think we need to go do a one-two punch over there. It is at least one place that you and I run

That didn’t take long! If you want, also file SEC complains against all brokerages who halted or suspended trade on the hot stocks here!

#7964 3 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

Who do you trade with?

Ameritrade....They only suspended margins, but I have cash in my accounts to buy/sell freely.

Looking forward to when this thread gets back on track to investing ....

hahahaha

reminds me of the end of trading places where the rich guys start losing their shirts and start yelling "stop the trading"

Will be fun seeing all these con men have to explain what they do for a living and why what they do it perfectly fine and this wasnt.

good fucking luck.

Wait what? This has always been a "trading" thread, not investing. Except when investingdad shows up. It's just that the trades changed from days/weeks to minutes.

Wow, brutal head fake in GME. Let’s see when resumes

Yes, all this news that will likely change the way trading is done isnt relevant to the trading thread.

Lets talk low risk mutual funds (they suck).

Got a lot of good stock tips from this forum ... may not be GME exciting but they have been very profitable

This is the title, but there is a lot of good investment talk also

#7971 3 years ago

There are so many unethical things going on in my opinion. One of which is, if it’s not clear when the trade has halted to most investors (vs reflecting the market), this creates an artificial impression (among sellers) that the limit ask price is not meeting the market demand and should be lowered. How is this allowed?

OK here is a stock tip. buy and hold. unless its GME.

I actually never liked game stop to begin with. horrible prices, and their return policy sucked. Plus the employees there were always these 30-40 year old dudes with no girlfriend and were stuck up which I still cant understand to this very day.

#7974 3 years ago

So back to stocks with a relation to pinball and slot machines; Bally's Corporation (BALY) announced yesterday that all of the Fox Sports branded networks will soon be branded Bally Sports. The familiar Bally logo will be on teevees across the nation.

I have been adding to my position after selling a bit for "general corporate purposes".

Does this Bally have anything to do with the slot machine manufacturer or no? Bally seems to have turned into GE and sold off a ton of their stuff.

This is one reason why this is so great... they picked a company they know sucks and is doomed.

The kids today just love sarcasm.

The whole thing is a goof which gives me faith in the future frankly.

Has anybody used cash app to buy stocks? A work associate just bought more amc there but I’m not sure how reliable it is

#7978 3 years ago

Reddit moving on to silver! Up 2.8%. Where are those silver coins- time to cash in.

#7979 3 years ago
Quoted from KornFreak28:

It’s owned by Square, I prefer it to PayPal. Haven’t really used it for stocks.
Just tried it, timed out for me.

#7980 3 years ago

Still holding my NOK, NAKD, and AMC!!! I don't think this is over yet. The Robinhooders are pissed, they just need to find a new place to trade. Or maybe RH will open these stocks back up? Either way, it's fun to watch and be a part of it.

#7981 3 years ago

Lol Crypto is rocketing up. Even Dogecoin is way up. Just sent my portfolio soaring. Too bad I’m gonna sell it all and move to a platform that doesn’t pull the plug when their hedge masters demand it.

Either way Robinhood (and Webull as well as the others) committed suicide. The consensus is that they known they will get sued the the millions of the lawsuit are nothing compared to the literal billions they’re still on the hook for. Same with Melvin claiming they closed out on their positions. Rather take the fines and lawsuits than actually have to buy billions of dollars of stock on a dead horse like GameStop.

I try to bring a balanced and pragmatic view to investing in the markets so that people that don't know what they're doing, or worse.... think they know what they're doing, don't come here, read selective posts, think it's easy, and then get their asses handed to them.

Then, to make it worse, they AVOID saving and investing at all going forward because they lost money and think it's impossible to beat the big guys... failing to understand that it is not a competition at all.

Many are under the mistaken impression that the path to wealth is fast and a few clicks on the trading button. I've always advocated an approach that takes time but will lead to a seven figure (or more) portfolio...I mean, people like the idea of having that kind of wealth level, right?

I don't push the "fast money, STONKS LOL" approach... that's true. But I know what my Quicken balances tell me and how I got there.

Sticking with a simple plan works when times are both bad and good.

To each their own. Carry on.

I was giving you props. I wish I'd just bought index funds for the last 20 years. I'd have 3x or more what I do now.

Yeah, no worries. Didn't read it negative at all.

I would just like it to be fair. That's all I'm annoyed with in this situation. I've lost money on stocks before, but not because someone decided to change the rules in the middle of the game.

It leaves a very foul taste in my mouth.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Historically related by name. Spun off into several divisions years ago. Caesars Entertainment owned the rights to the Bally name on casinos with the exception of the Bally logo above being owned by Hilton Hotels and licensed by Bally Gaming (division of Scientific Games). Now also licensed to Bally's Corporation (Formerly Twin River Worldwide Holdings) along with the rights to use the name and logo on all casinos they own. Look for those to change names soon.

Bally's Corporation and Sinclair Sports Networks formed a partnership deal last November resulting in the iconic Bally name and Logo being used on the former Fox Sports network stations.

Inside of the Bally Gaming headquarters (branded Scientific Games) in Las Vegas, a model of the Bally Icon hangs on the wall as you eneter the office area.

Good call! been doing the same.. Extra $8k.. seems to be holding at $10. Waiting for the next drop.

That is the the thing that sticks in my craw. The did not do it before close or after; they did it right in the middle to disrupt things. That is what is fucked.

I wound up doing ok with the trade and it was a small part of my portfolio. I’m a big boy and this goes with the territory. What pisses me off is that it crushed people that this was their first time investing or that they are new. This turns people off to the market an destabilizes faith in the markets.

Let’s be clear: GME, AMC, BB, NOK, and all are not sound companies. We are all gambling on these types of things. We should know the risks when we hit the buy or sell button. But changing the rules mid flight is wrong.

I think those that think the SEC are going to do anything about it are wrong. The SEC was already making suggestions that 'these' people were corrupt and this was illegal manipulation. The question is whether or not these people are going to continue to fight for what is right, or attention span away from it to something else in a week. If they don't stick to it, nothing is going to change.

The reality is, until media stepped in and hedge funds started complaining and this went mainstream, the people involved DID know that these companies were trash, they knew what they were buying. Even after it went mainstream, I think most did as well.

Definitely, these are 100% gabling stocks everyone.. do not buy these stocks as a investment.

Bingo. I'm brand new to trying my hand at 'trading', everything else has always been safe contributions to index type funds or managed accounts. I had some money I didn't mind losing, so threw some in the ring fully understanding the gamble. I'm fine with losing on the deal, because honestly I expected it. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of by these megacorps, and what pisses me off more than anything is that they're trying to spin it as though they're doing me a favor by limiting my ability to trade. So now it's personal.

When the dust settles, I see myself doing exactly as I had been doing, but throwing just a little bit of my funny money toward things like cryptos. I also look at those as incredibly risky, but I don't mind putting expendable funds at something that has the potential to 'diversify' my investments a little with some off the grid flyers.

#7993 3 years ago

GME has now been halted 17 times today if I count right. Something is rotten in Denmark here. Walking the fence on criminal actions at a few institutions.

#7994 3 years ago

PG moving back up. I had been taking a hit with them lately. Long position, so I wasn't going anywhere, but they had decent q results resulting in red numbers for weeks.

#7995 3 years ago

I've never bought into the argument that the free market wasn't in fact free. That changed today. Absolute disgrace that media and big corp got the onlines to prevent people from buying stock.

#7996 3 years ago

I just bought AMC again on Cash app. Worked perfectly! Don't wanna be left out in case this thing rockets like a mofo!

#7997 3 years ago

Had time to read. They could only convert if went over $13 and they didn’t comment if they held shares. They would have made $280m on $600m loan if sold last night. Something tells me Silver Lake has a few posters on Reddit and were buying a lot of calls. Or they are now one of biggest shareholders of AMC..

#7998 3 years ago

Dealing with work but have CNBC on the TV. I love how this is being spun as being the right thing to do and bringing control back to things. The hypocrisy is deep.

#7999 3 years ago

I was just looking at the market hour by hour short ratios... they’re still going up...
you’re telling me that these guys who are getting reamed, losing billions and crying to the government are genuinely doubling down on their short positions???

100% clownery.
