One of my pins I just got up and running was playing well until after a quite a few games. Then I noticed the right hand flipper acting sluggish and sticking.

I readjusted the flipper. No help.

I swapped in a new sleeve. Still no help.

Finally, I removed the plunger and link.

I have not heard anyone talk of this problem before. It is something else to file away in the knowledge base.

The problem: The flipper link is binding on the roll pin. I put a drop of super lube on and the problem went away---for awhile. It is sticking again so I will be replacing either the link, or the roll pin, or the link, or roll pin assembly.

I've had this issue when the nut on the flipper button is too tight.

That's a new one. I'm surprised the hole is so tight that it binds.

Yeah, I know. It was not something I expecting to have to look for. When the old "stick in a new sleeve" failed to correct the problem I had to look deeper. Once I pulled the plunger/link assembly I could feel the problem.

After I had hit the roll pin with some super lube, the pin played very well for about 50 short-ball-time games. I guess the lube wore out or dried up because I am seized up again.

I going to have to drive the pin out. Right now, I don't know if the pin is too large of diameter or if the hole in the link is undersized.

So now you know. If a new sleeve does not correct the problem, this rare issue might be what ails you.

I had one several years ago that was binding at the nylon link. I took it out of the game and worked it back and forth to wear it down a little and that solved the problem.
