Quoted from meSz:

So who is a good dist in CA (Santa Barbara) area?

I bought my last nib pin from Orange County Pinballs, was very happy with them. They delivered to me in the Thousand Oaks area which is maybe 40 minutes from you, so I figure they would deliver to you as well.

Quoted from yancy:

deadflip I'm raging for a gameplay stream.

I asked him on his last Twitch stream as did countless others no doubt, but he just says "soon". Definitely want to see this one in action. Had only planned to buy Elvira 3 this year nib, but the this one is very tempting. Will probably go Pro if I do partly because I prefer the art package on it, partly because I'm not a big fan of mini playfields and partly because historically I've liked Pro models when others haven't.

Quoted from Wotto:

I cannot believe that I just read through 2 pages of art nitpicking.... PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE can we all move on now....

It'll stop once the game ships and then they can then start complaining about playfield dimples, cabinet quality and code.

Looks like Deadflip stream tomorrow will be both Pro and Premium.
[quoted image]

Thanks, will definitely tune in! Will likely get a Pro model but will be cool to watch him put both models through their paces.

#2304 5 years ago

LE looks pretty good, but I'll stick with the Pro model on this one. Plays faster and the upper playfield seems pretty limited anyways, just personal preference.

#2639 5 years ago

Put my deposit down on a Pro model, now the waiting game begins! Might try live streaming this one

#2651 5 years ago

Yeah this theme, art package and sound package makes me want a very fast game. Watching the live stream made going with the Pro a simple choice but that's just my preference. I'll enjoy the Pro for a while then eventually sell it and move on to something else, I don't see the point in stressing over this kinda stuff.

Quoted from drfrightner:

Stern wants you to waste 9500 on this game (LE)...

The sell a Pro model for much cheaper.

Just played the pro a bunch at AYCE Gogi, typing this while I wait for my fried Oreos. Awesome game, fast, fluid, brutal, exactly what I'm looking for. I disagree with people that say it's a one flipper game, I definitely use both. Hopefully will get mine next week, was my favorite game at their location.

Quoted from aingide:

This was more or less my takeaway after about 20 games on a Pro. It's like the Dark Souls of pinball.
I didn't really have a lot of fun exactly, but it was still satisfying...and I kept putting money in because I wanted to push through and figure out the geometry.
I expect great players to love this game, especially in a competitive environment, because it demands high-level play.

The game reminds of the old school arcade game Robotron by Williams, where it's very tough but something about it keeps you coming back.

Quoted from Yokimato:

I’ve got 500 games in on my pro and I’ve had no shield issues, for what anecdotal evidence you may care about.

I just live streamed my pro on Twitch, about 100 games, shield seems fine on mine for what it's worth.

Hey guys, finished my live stream yesterday of the Pro model, it's here to watch for those curious:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/415954987

Best I could do was around 30 million for top score, very tough game but I'm not that great at pinball either.

Quoted from Cobray:

Agree. It JUST MAKES NO SENSE where it's at too! Adding a button on the side of the cabinet would have cost them pennies. I would love to know the the thoght process on this.. I'm sure a side button was discussed, and the final decision was "no". Maybe Steve Ritchie can comment on this if someone gets a chance to ask him?

My guess is they did it like old school arcade game Defender where the hyperspace button (panic button essentially) is at the bottom center of the control panel. You get used to it and it actually becomes normal. On my live play of the game I would hit it too late at first, but then successfully used it quite a bit in later games.

Quoted from frankmac:

I think I am the only one who does not mind the Magna save on the lock down bar.
I bumpnudge slap/tap most of the time anyway.
I find it rewarding to smack the Magna button with my left hand while stressing out on the right side!!

I like it as well personally. Took a little time to get used to it, but now I successfully use it regularly.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Wow, there is a talking point!
Making the game more than 7 degrees is cheating.
Interesting as lots of people raise their games thinking they are making them harder, but maybe they are making them easier as side to side action ( side drains ) is reduced

Definitely interesting, I didn't know that was the case. I just measured mine and it's at 6.0 degrees currently, fairly close to what he intended so I'll leave it like that.

Quoted from Parzival:

I've played the pro quite a bit on location, and am now dialed
in on hitting the magna-save (don't have any video however).
I kind of like the button location, as it makes you anticipate
more to use it. To be fair, I haven't played much of the previous
two BKs, but on SoR the magna-save bails me out at least one a
game. Even if it's not going to drain, getting a controlled shot
can be nice.

Same with me, I like the button location and successfully use it all the time now. Even saved two balls at once with it during multi ball, one over the magna save and the other was orbiting around it, looked pretty cool. Just like you I never used magna save much on the earlier black knight games for me mostly because I would always forget it was there. So personally I prefer the button where it is.

Quoted from Maide:

The ball can still drain. The (optional) post helps bump balls that went around the loop fly into the flipper, but you can still fumble that shot and lose the ball. The ball also needs to have some speed on it for the bump to do much. Players were already able to bump the ball into the flippers by nudging the game while the game was rolling on the rubbers in the upper playfield, the post just makes this automatic.

That seems like a good fix to me. I own a Pro but played the premium a bunch as well, and when I played on the premium I kept wasting my tilt warning on the upper playfield then after that I couldn't do much in the upper playfield for risk of tilting the game. On top of that I'd then feel more helpless in the lower playfield as well since I could no longer nudge having spent the warning. Definitely be curious to try this altered version of the game.

Quoted from PinMonk:

The point was, the preference for the Prem/LE is not limited to people that OWN the Prem/LE as you said. It's the less crappy of the two layouts, which is weird because I surely thought that it would be the crappy one because I DO NOT like the clear plastic for a playfield surface.

It's interesting because I'm basically the polar opposite, playing a mini playfield is like playing a Zizzle grafted onto a modern Stern, I just don't like them so this was the easiest Pro over Premium choice ever for me but definitely different strokes for different folks. I know it's a cop out answer but people will have to play each on location and decide what works for them, because my preference or anyone else's means little in the grand scheme of things.

Quoted from DS_Nadine:

So, since the initial hype seems to have ended:
Anyone that played both versions of the game still'd say that he likes the Pro better?

Played both and still like the Pro better.
