Quoted from Robertstone0407:

I heard strong source tomorrow reveal, only a LE and premium model

I overheard one of the Stern guys talking to Steve Ritchie out front of the hall at TPF and saying "you ready for the launch on Tuesday?" I wasn't eavesdropping so it's not like it was a top-secret discussion, and they might have just been screwing around, but I guess we'll find out tomorrow ...

#199 5 years ago
Quoted from SheriffBarclay:

Let the price speculation on Prem and LE begin?

If they're actually launching tomorrow we may not have much time to speculate. So fire away!

#1318 5 years ago
Quoted from aeonblack:

I would consider waiting to buy my LE until playing it if you crackheads would stop snatching up all the games within 24 hours of them going on sale. The FOMO in pinball is unreal.
That being said, I put my deposit in on my LE yesterday, really looking forward to being let down!

Do HUO LEs sell above retail after launch much anymore? If you're OK waiting six months or so, seems relatively safe to wait and make sure you're satisfied before you pull the trigger.

#1323 5 years ago
Quoted from aeonblack:

Depends on the title, from my experience. If it's a desirable theme with a solid rep for (mostly) finished code, good shots, etc, that's a lot more likely. Also depends on the size of the LE run. In Canada, it doesn't seem like LE's go up for sale that often.

Fair point, Canadian market is different and I imagine it's a PITA importing from the states.

Quoted from flynnibus:

he did say BK... not which black knight game....
so you could be watching the original BK

That would be funny.

@knockerlover’s overreaction is an even better April Fool’s joke than the Burger King stunt! Well played, sir.

Quoted from Deez:

I'm not saying there isn't strong glass that won't scratch. I'm saying if Stern had to pick between Lexan and cellophane I think I know which one they'd go with.

I’m stumped - they seem to have gone with Lexan, so are you saying they couldn’t source sufficient cellophane for the job?

#1962 5 years ago
Quoted from rcbrown316:

Does anyone have this game yet? I read about 40 comments and still have no indication if its shipping. I might get an LE if people are happy with it after receiving it. It does look pretty awesome.

Still a couple of weeks out - word is there will be a good number available for play at MGC weekend of April 12. Meanwhile DeadFlip will be doing a live stream April 9 so you can see how it shoots.

#1970 5 years ago
Quoted from knockerlover:

That’s not how buying an LE NIB works..

Fair point. He’ll probably have to wait three additional months and get a HUO for less than retail, with any luck already tweaked to play right. Not a bad thing unless he must that NIB experience!

Quoted from kermit24:

Because 6 balls in the trough means what? Nothing to do with the code.

Would they have you load six balls in the pro if it wasn’t going to use them all? Are there games that actually do that?

#2016 5 years ago
Quoted from Jediturtle:

Not necessarily. While I really hope you are correct and catapult multiball IS actually in the pro somehow, I have a bad feeling it won't be. It will more likely be like Game of Thrones and Tron where there is an extra multiball on the LE/premiums that is missing all together from the pro.

Certainly possible that a specific multiball will be Premium/LE only, but does it follow that the Pro will ship with six balls but not have any modes that use six balls? Isn't it more likely that there will be at least one mode that's on all versions and uses six balls?

Quoted from zaphX:

But the artwork has the black knight brandishing it?

The story is that you acquire the Sword of Rage to defeat the Black Knight. But for some reason the Black Knight is depicted several places on the playfield and cab holding a glowing sword. Is that also the Sword of Rage (so you're stealing his sword to use against him)? Some other sword he likes to switch up with the flail? Who knows. Probably best not to think too much about it.

So is the price structure confirmed for Wonka? Is the $9k one that Kanada was comparing to BKSR Premium the cheap one or the middle-tier?

#2681 5 years ago
Quoted from EricHadley:

Excited to see it in person! Unfortunately for me that means waiting till my LE is delivered. But we should be getting a lot of feed back about it this weekend! Lots of pics and game play videos? Bring it on!

There will surely be a couple on route in Denver if you can't hold out, just a short drive to the north! There's a launch party/tournament at 1Up Lodo on May 5: https://www.facebook.com/events/288279355418094/

Read through the FTC link you posted there - setting minimum sale pricing (not just MAP) is not necessarily illegal. The law has changed over the years and what used to be “price fixing” isn’t always considered illegal by the courts anymore.

“Reasonable price, territory, and customer restrictions on dealers are legal. Manufacturer-imposed requirements can benefit consumers by increasing competition among different brands (interbrand competition) even while reducing competition among dealers in the same brand (intrabrand competition)... an agreement to set minimum (or "floor") prices or to limit territories may encourage dealers to provide a level of service that the manufacturer wants to offer to consumers when they buy the product. These benefits must be weighed against any reduction in competition from the restrictions.”

Quoted from Tranquilize:

I figured I'd get those downvotes in this thread, but I can't lie. I played the crap out of Star wars, and it was a massive disappointment to me. Glad you guys like it!

Don’t take it personally, just means some people (including me) disagree with your opinion.

Quoted from Yoko2una:

Also, with all the Magna-save button poor location talk, I wonder who will be the first to drill out their cab and install the button in the proper place (No proper high tech photo needed).

If I were a buyer I would totally do this. Magnasave is a fun concept and it’s a bummer that it’s essentially unusable as configured. In 20-30 games I successfully used it once on a slow dribbler that could easily have been saved by nudging. (I really like the game otherwise, BTW. Fast and aggressive, keeps you on your toes with all the action on the lower half of the playfield).

#3187 5 years ago
Quoted from Chalkey:

Magnasave essentially unusable... this is why in my head I read most pinside posts in the voice of comic book guy from simpsons.

Happy to be of service!

Quoted from Wildbill327:

After playing a few games the button starts to feel natural, but I also play a lot of SW(Stern)so the button is already familiar. Not sure how the resale would go after drilling a hole in the side...but if it’s a keeper why not.

I own a SW so it's not like I'm biased against the lockdown button. Just don't think it works for Magnasave. But it sounds like some of you are actually getting productive use out of it, so maybe it's just a matter of adjusting your game to hit it way in advance. Or maybe I'm just getting slow. Still isn't as cool as a button on the side, but it's an easy mod so no big deal.

Quoted from pinballholder:

Stern noob here, what's the options for adding a shaker? Stern only or are there aftermarket options, whats the best path forward?

The Pinballlife ones also work great, just as easy to install, and half the price.

#3278 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballholder:

I am now wondering if I am looking at the right one as both PBL and Stern shakers appear to be $99. My understanding is BKSoR is on the SPIKE 2 platform, is there a diff shaker than this (technically this only says SPIKE): https://shop.sternpinball.com/products/stern-shaker-motor-kit-for-spike-system-games

Nice, Stern may be responding to competition and adjusting their prices! At the same cost, may as well go with the Stern branded one (I’d assume that’s the one you want for BKSR, but probably worth emailing Stern to confirm).

#3287 4 years ago
Quoted from guymontag451:

My point exactly. The people preemptively thinking about modding a button on the cab would be wise to play it first to understand this fact.

I wouldn't recommend modding a cab without playing the game first. But I think most people discussing adding a side button have already played BKSR a fair bit (I know I have). And a few of us have probably even played the original BK, which gives some sense of how side button Magnasave plays.

We had an epic finals.

Don't leave us hanging, what was the top score for finals?

Stern sending me new spring for the launcher issues I’m having . I hate taking things apart hopefully won’t be too hard

It won’t be. Look on YouTube for videos, it’s a quick and simple process.
