    Quoted from Who-Dey:

Stern sells a shitload of games and I don't see many people having cabinet problems at all so I'm gonna say that there's pretty much nothing to worry about.

nothing to worry about...... except for the person who got a shitty cabinet ??

you sure you aren't on the payroll there?

    Quoted from kermit24:

Everyone wants a perfect pinball machine today more than ever.

    no.

i think most just want decent quality... for their hard earned.

    Quoted from Mike_J:

Then they shouldn't buy a Stern pinball machine.

im good with Stern.. up to ACDC. : P

    Quoted from Spelunk71:

The credit card extends the warranty, but I'm not sure if the bare bones Stern warranty even texhnically covers cabinet damage like this (though like the crappy playfields, Stern will have to address this somehow). I'll definitely explore the options.

that should come under "defective manufacturing", which regardless of how shitty the warranty is, that buyer should be covered for a full refund.... consumer law.... i guess it doesnt relate to pinball though.

    Quoted from Spelunk71:

Who knows, maybe they will send out some sort of kit that would fix it better than my DIY attempt.

another "repair kit " !!... for a freaking NIB... sweet mother of.......

"THEY DONT MAKE EM LIKE THEY USED TO" !

    Quoted from Who-Dey:

The thing you have to realize is some of the cabinets may have been damaged or weakened by the shipping company, and some may have been damaged by their Jackass owners, we just don't know.

    hah.

    not likely

    Quoted from GGG:

    News Flash!

Stern NEVER made them like they used to, they were always a 2nd or 3rd tier game source. Hell, even Sega's were far better than Stern's in the day. Stern still proudly retains that tradition today, (sure they were #1 when they were the only game in town).

basically, that was a general quote about pretty much most things these days... but yes in my opinion
    it does include Stern....

i will say, ive had spiderman, sopranos, TF, austin powers, and a few others and they had all held up pretty well... certainly without the issues we are seeing recently.

    Quoted from Who-Dey:

Stern isn't going out of business because of 25-30 jerks on Pinside that want to spew their unwarranted non factual hate about them trust me. Stern is kicking Ass and taking names right now in the pinball industry.

buyers have reported QC issues.. with pics.... factual.

where'd you get that 25-30 number from ?

    #1270 6 years ago
    Quoted from Who-Dey:

It's not my fault that you cant take a joke Panzer lol. As far as the down votes, who cares?

you cared about your down votes alright.

liar, liar... pants on FIRE !!!

    Quoted from tacshose:

No way that is Stern's quality issues, looks like that game is on carpet, or dropped in shipping, or nudged too hard, or abused, or or or or

    HA!

or maybe recent earthquake activity in the area.

    #1395 6 years ago
    Quoted from wtatumjr:

I'd like an acknowledgement of the problem and a fix for future buyers

from Stern ? good luck with that. it would be nice, no doubt.

they didnt do it with the playfields, why start with the good customer service/focus now ?

    #1402 6 years ago
    Quoted from Shapeshifter:

For me the best quality Sterns were circa 2004 - 2007.

even 2001 - right thru to ACDC (2012) for me ....

    solid.

    #1489 6 years ago

its pretty hard to believe both are plywood... the older STTNG looks so much denser.

better sources/better quality plywood back then yeah ?

    GOT WOOD? ; P

    #1501 6 years ago
    Quoted from Billy16:

For what Stern is charging for their new pins, the plywood they use in their cabs should be the best quality they can find, not cheap quasi-chip-board-air-pocketed-scrapwood-ply.

    totally agree.

but i tend to think they will look after their bottom line first.. so they will continue with the cheap manufacturing where they can get away with it.... if buyers are happy with that, fine ....

    #1516 6 years ago
    Quoted from Chambahz:

Stern manufactures the most pins BY FAR, so have more issues reported.

in the period 2001- 2012 THEY ALSO manufactured the most pins.... (WITH LESS ISSUES).

    #1666 6 years ago
    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Why....WHY?! You can't even fit a System 3 in some SUVs, they are too tall

we (squeezed) got a Waterworld into a BMW X3.

    #1670 6 years ago
    Quoted from Chambahz:

These ARE commercial-use machines after all, hence the price tag.

does that commercial-use equal commercial quality ?

my techno, and life fitness machines are for commercial use...
they are very well made... built to handle 24/7 gym operation. powder coated
11ga steel. price tag - also high. so i expect quality./ and lastability

    Quoted from MustangPaul:

Just mount another leg bolt plate down there.

what do the leg bolt plates that Stern now use, look like ?

    #1706 6 years ago
    Quoted from MustangPaul:

The same as what's on all your games.

they still use em ? ah good to hear. : P
