    Contact your distributor.

    #6 6 years ago

Kinda looks like it was dropped on the corner.

    #7 6 years ago

Never drop brotha...barley move...I have no issues of getting it fix....my question is....have the cabinet builds change?...I love stern but jus a little nervous to buy a another nib if the cabs are this weak...

    #8 6 years ago

probably happened in shipping or at the manufacturer

With all the cost cutting measures Stern has done recently I guess anything's possible. Sorry to see this and hope it gets handled ASAP.

    #10 6 years ago

good luck in getting a clear answer on that one!

My guess would be shipping also.

    #12 6 years ago

Probably a defective unit. My GB is solid.

    #13 6 years ago

I recently got a new Stern and had the same problem, which was disappointing but I looked up some threads on here and it seems like an easy fix.

Yeah not a hard fix....only negative is when the seam splits it rips the decals...so since the decal rips you have to replace front and side decal..because the front decal wraps over the side...

Looks like a transport or storage issue. You should not have to fix it. I would be disappointed if that happened to us. There is nothing wrong with the cabinets. The metal back boxes make them a little lighter which I think is better.

You will love GB. Awesome game.

Well they removed about 40 pounds from games. Putting that in perspective, that is like removing the weight of a 4x8 sheet of half inch plywood. Granted, that's through the whole game. But yes, some stuff is thinner and less durable.

    #17 6 years ago

What a bummer. I would be demanding a replacement. Good luck.

    #18 6 years ago

Yes, I would hate to get a splinter in my finger from mine.

    #19 6 years ago

Your probably going to get blamed for dropping it. Glue and clamps will be the way to go.

    #20 6 years ago

Stern is building everything cheaper, why should cabinets be any different.

    #21 6 years ago

Well I've talk to two different people that had this problem....game of throne, and a kiss...so I guess it does happen...I guess that's jus one more thing you have to look at when getting a nib or newer pin in general....

    #22 6 years ago

I've seen this on at least 3 GBs. The cabinets are built like crap and the joinery at the corner is now just a lap joint and not an interlocking joint like you see on B/W games.

Is it possible that over tightening the leg bolts can compromise the corner seams?

    Rob

    #24 6 years ago

Is Stern making these cabinets? Or CCC?

    #25 6 years ago

You didn't do that by just moving it, that joint is broken. The joint didn't seperate the wood broke. To break the wood in a joint like that would take a lot of force. Call your distributer pronto. If I were you I'd buy a couple of those HD leg braces, put one on for the leg bolts and another higher just for support once it's fixed.

Hmm, you have me intrigued now.

Is it something like this!? Does your decal look like this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Why always the left front?
No way everyone of these owners (or the shippers) keeps dropping them and screwing up the left front corner.

They've been about 250 lbs for as long as I can remember.

    #31 6 years ago

Looks like that lap is too deep and leaves the remaining wood it 'keys' into without enough to hold onto. Yikes.

I'm getting ready to buy a GB Premium but seeing things like this makes me hesitant to do so...Stern is charging more then ever, quality should be going up not down at these crazy prices.

    #33 6 years ago

Same new supplier as the playfields

    #34 6 years ago

I've seen pictures of games on route with this split as well.

Yes looks to me like the weak point is on the joint of the corner cabinet because of how thin the adjoining joint is. It may have a correlation with the quality and density of the plywood as well. The strongest joint is a full dove tail but I doubt they would consider going that route. I did have an idea, if Stern wanted to invest an extra couple of bucks in there production of machines they should consider adding metal L shaped brackets to support the inside structure corners and lessen the likelihood of having cabinets splitting apart when you fart close to them. Four metal support brackets would be cheap as hell and would probably pay for itself with not having all the callbacks for defects. While they are at it add a metal shooter lane protector. These machines can be made bulletproof with little investment and little effort. If Stern would realize that adding protection will reduce cost in the long run. -Lead a horse to water, but how do you get them to drink.

This is disappointing to see yet another factory defect from Stern. Add it to the growing list.... Bad playfields, bad node boards, bare bones incomplete code and now the cherry on the cake-flippin bad cabinet construction. Sounds like Stern needs to look for a quality control specialist and a good production line manager. Oh Vey!

Mine is on the left front too. It's not too bad, just disappointing.

If you leave it in the box no problem either

copy that , makes me want to give AFMr and closer look for next NIB purchase

Wow, they should at least pin nail them

Making my decision to pass on Aerosmith a lot easier to digest!

And now that Spooky are making Total Annihilation I will be sticking with them

I admit I'm not a carpenter but just looking at the way the corner is designed, it doesn't seem to be a good setup for a cabinet like this. I don't see how it could -not- fail at some point. I think carpentry has been around for awhile and the problem of how to build a solid cabinet has been solved if you do it right.

    #45 6 years ago

I'm close to ordering a Aerosmith LE. This is disappointing. Not sure now, thanks for posting.

I just got a Hobbit and it had the same issue. Its bad enough that the glass doesnt slide in and out. It doesnt sound hard to fix.

My GB pro weight = 210 pounds (230 in box).

To compare: STTNG = 322 pounds crated. Mine probably weighs that much uncrated with all of the mods!

    Huge difference.

    #48 6 years ago

Cabinet corner seam pics are the new insert ghosting check pics!

I haven't seen any Stern cabs falling apart but there's absolutely no doubt they are much lighter and flimsier than ever before. I can't believe how light my WWE feels and I've had to tighten up the tilt to keep my idiot friends from throwing it around.

    #49 6 years ago

are they even glued? they should squirt some gorilla wood glue before assembling and there would never be an issue.
I've worked on hundreds of Williams/bally games and maybe 5% have corner separation problems after all these years.
it's not exactly rocket science to put together a wooden cabinet that is already CNC'd. Yet Stern finds a way to screw it up.
Agree they need to get a quality control supervisor ASAP - especially for the prices they charge.

To be fair, STTNG is a beast. I suspect it weighs in a good more than its contemporaries.
