I was hoping for an Elvira reveal or some thing along that nature.

#153 6 months ago

I expect the booth to be as empty as Galaxy Edge in Disneyland.

Always fun to pop in here and read the angry comments. Like Stern gives a shit.

With no action button on the lock down bar it's a step in the right direction. let's hope they follow suit on the rest of their new releases.

#156 6 months ago

Its all about $.....I suspect if its priced appropriately people will buy one (less than $2k)...

#157 6 months ago

I’m curious how many of the home edition games they sell. I’ve never actually seen one. If there is a market for them then it makes sense for stern to make them, not sure why y’all are up in arms over it.

#158 6 months ago

So, 3 Tie Fighters/Drops protect the Death Star ramp, which actually passes through the Death Star toy.

Already more exciting than the Star Wars Pro. I do like the Premium/LE.

The Dr. Says take a shot and relax. Enjoy your day....

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Corrects a number of issues that made the Spider-Man home (and The Pin before it) look so bad:
Actual plunger
Coin Door
Legs outside the cabinet
No speaker on your right gonad
Proper sized and proportioned head
The small LCD makes sense too as it's proportional to the original, just smaller. The overall look is pretty professional. It appears to be a full-size pinball machine, and that's been the main obstacle no home game has overcome yet. I love the look of the head reminds me of a System 9 game.
Depending on price they could sell some.

You've got to remember that previous Stern home games had almost ZERO support. No manuals. No schematics. No code updates. Not even mentioned on the Stern website any more. Stern completely ignores "The Pin" owners.

Stern has been trying cheaper versions for years so they must either sell more then pinside thinks or they think they are on to something and just have to get the formula right. More pinball is always a good thing. The game actually doesn't look horrible to me. Also these releases never have anything to do with sterns cornerstone game releases. So no clue why anyone would be disappointed or worked up about it, wait a few weeks and everyone will have something new to bitch and moan about.

Quoted from delt31:

Sorry but for Stern to hype this home version like it's their next big new game is complete bullshit. That's the problem. Simple as that.
Hopefully Stern has another trick up their sleeve today and rights the wrong.

There has been almost no hype other then KE insinuating that his game is coming soon. Do you want stern not to tell people they will be at a show with a new release just because it's not what you wanted? That makes zero sense. Right the wrong, lol what are you talking about?

Quoted from Aurich:

What hype?
Serious question, I have no idea what you're referring to. A press release? They're releasing a new product that they clearly worked hard on, at a big convention, and put out a standard press release.
What else?

Apparently people cannot wait 2 more weeks to see the next cornerstone game so temper tantrums will be thrown. And once the next game is released more temper tantrums will be thrown because its not perfect for them either.

I think this is just a reveal within a reveal.

I fully expect them to release a full featured game as well.

#163 6 months ago
Quoted from kermit24:

This is targeted at the guy that is trying to decide between air hockey, Golden Tee, pool table, or a foosball table. Maybe he gets this instead of a pool table. Not targeted to us.

I think this release is cool. Why?

(1) Stern's market research must indicate it will make money. We, as collectors/players, want Stern to make money and stay alive.

(2) It gives people a slightly more inexpensive option if they want to buy a new game for their home. Perhaps it's a Star Wars super-fan that will only play it on ocassion... or maybe it's a casual that will get the bug and start digging deeper into the hobby.

Good on Stern.

#164 6 months ago

There is a lot of negativism about this pin, but I hope it brings more people to the hobby.

People here constantly MAKE THEIR OWN HYPE and then bitch about being disappointed by it.

Has more going on than Cosmic Carnival or Mafia.

Good point, another aspect is software can’t be updated. You get a game that is 100% done but won’t ever be improved. As a self-diagnosed pinball nut, that would drive me straight to crazy town.

But it's the fact they KEEP DOING IT that;s really amazing.

Well maybe that's different this time around?

With an actual coin door and lockdown bar, and a normal-looking head, perhaps this game is much more serviceable than the previous home attempts.

Not sure why anybody wants code updates, I'm sure the point is a simpler game that is 100 percent from release. You know, what people here clamor for every time a Stern game is released.

#170 6 months ago

It actually looks like it could be pretty cool/fun. Especially if it's a full sized playfield and at a decent price. Looks like they did the best they could with the art, given the constraints. It's still kinda bland. Reminds me of a lunchbox. But hey, it gets the job done and I'm fine with that.

#171 6 months ago

I bet it has deeper code than The Munsters.

#172 6 months ago

I think the price is too high for the market they are going for, but this is based on zero research so what do I know? On the other hand Star Wars is a great theme to give this price model another shot -- just the music alone adds a cool factor to a game room. How many of these do they have to sell to make it worthwhile? It's not like their normal games are selling tens of thousands. If they can find another niche that they can sell a few thousands pins to maybe that's enough to make it worthwhile. Especially, if they are just modifying the same basic home pin model with different themes.

Regardless, this just gives us a few more weeks to speculate on the next release. The anticipation is the best part anyway -- once it gets revealed it's just time to pick it apart, not quite as enjoyable.

#173 6 months ago

We have a rec room at work with your typical game room games (foosball, ping pong, etc). The owner of the company has told me many times that he wants to get a pinball machine but always backs out due to the price of a newer Stern. I show him older ones to get but he wants a new one with the themes Stern is doing. I can totally see this machine working for our rec room and will gladly play this on breaks. I am going to show him this today.

My distributor said MSRP 4K.

#177 6 months ago

...aaaaaaand over.

Ugh.

#178 6 months ago

That was the most troll premiere of a pin ever.

#179 6 months ago

What a complete waste of time effort......
Honestly speechless

#180 6 months ago

The two minute countdown timer was longer than the actual video amazing

Not sure you know what "speechless" means!

That was hilarious. The ONE TIME I actually tune in for a premiere...

#182 6 months ago

Stern is saying: "We Got One" just like they did when made ghostbusters promise of new code. Stern 2 / Customers 0

#183 6 months ago

It was funny, in the same vein as "pull my finger" and "made you look" is funny. When you're 12.

#184 6 months ago

Stream chat made me chuckle through the disappointment though.

"My greatest disappointment used to be my children, now it's Stern Pinball."

#185 6 months ago

Rickroll would have been an improvement.

#186 6 months ago

Think thats the start button

Quoted from cscmtp:

still better than the Hobbit lol

Jeez, what did JJP do to you to make you take a dump on the Hobbit in every single thread you can - without fail. WTF?

There are several popular pins that I don't much care for, but I don't go around crapping on them ALL THE TIME. In fact I don't do it at all.

I just don't get why you do that. Can you tell us why you are so persistent and frequent with voicing your dislike for that particular pin?

#188 6 months ago

Well, my wallet just got fatter.

Ouch, hope not - but you may be right.

Sterns new ball lock assembly. Two posts and a side rail to hold the initial ball against / which will rest on a switch and can be hit out like a captive ball. A 2nd ball can be hit up to the top of that one and to the left activating a second lock switch. (New cost cutting measure)

That is freaking ridiculous. I get what they are trying to do here, but at that price it just doesn't make any sense. I can go buy four really great pinball machines on the first page of the marketplace right now for that price.

#198 6 months ago

Send it Back.....
(Sorry, couldnt resist)

Deadflip is streaming the game

Costs more then I paid for my NIB Spiderman.
